Let me introduce the latest Tokyo model! At 5:14 this morning, our little son was born, healthy and at 8 lbs 3 oz (3718 g), a good sized baby. Mush easier this time, with only 2 hours and 45 minutes from the start of labor, a few pushes (plus some real pain in there) and out he was.
My wife woke me up at 2:30 am to start timing the contractions, and it was obvious that these were a different level than her false labor ones. Her water broke at 2:50, so we got everything ready and were out of the house and to the hospital.
Anya and “Amma,” her Taiwanese grandma came along. The plan was for a family delivery, and since Anya woke up, we took her along.
Everything went really smooth. I was ready to take Anya out if she couldn’t handle it. I held her to where she could watch Mommy, and she was really good. She would also pat Mommy to help Mommy feel better.
Shawn immediately took to the breast. He’s was a little unhappy to be separated from Mommy to be weighted, but let me rock him to sleep afterward.
Oh, wowie, TokyoPlayer!!! Shawn is so handsome and the pictures of Anya cradling his face in her hands is just precious. Congratulations on your beautiful family!
Congratulations!
A (natural – I can only imagine how many inducements and cesareans are going to be happening all over the world today…) 10/10/10 baby, too!
This has been a long day! What excitement. I’m just so happy that everything worked out well, that Shawn is healthy and my wife is well.
I’ve spent every moment that I could with Anya today, to make sure that she wasn’t feeling left out of the excitement, and because she misses her Mommy, of course.
I’ll take a while to settle down myself. I’ve been pretty wound up, and highly focused the last while.
Life is really good. It’s so great to have a family.
I really want to thank everyone on the boards who has been so supportive during our times of difficulty.
