Hey, BlackKnight, ya cheap fuck!

Read the thread - I’m not even in the service industry…

Ya cheap fuck!

Hey, I’m quite an expensive fuck. But that’s because I include the service charge as part of the overall cost.

So, not only do you crawl up asses, you talk out of yours.

Such a charmer you are.

Mockingbird-yes, that’s exactly what I’m saying. If you can’t afford to tip-YOU CAN’T AFFORD TO EAT OUT.

Well, there is apparently no enlightening the ignorant here.

And with that, I shall now leave my office to meet my friends at a restaurant…for dinner, where we shall dine, wine…

and tip.
Ciao!

That’s right. You refuse to stop being ignorant and remain steadfast in your black and white perspective.

When did you stop whining?

Here’s a tip for you: life isn’t as simple as you seem to “think” it is.

Here’s a tip for you, Mockingbird-don’t go back to the same restaurants, if you don’t tip.

Because they remember.

More black and white thinking.

Good thing I didn’t treat my customers that way when I was a waiter. Nor did I feel that way about them.

Just because I am on a fixed income does not mean I should have to constantly eat at home or at a fast food place.

Here’s a tip for you, Guin: don’t assume.

I don’t get this menacing “beware the jilted server” stuff. Are you seriously saying that the majority of servers will add their own choice ingredients to the food? I may be reading you wrong, but it sounds to me that not only do you think this is common, but that you approve of it in some sort of karmic fashion.

If you simply mean that the servers will be less enthusiastic about serving non-tippers in the future, then I don’t really have a complaint. Quite frankly, so long as they do the basic functions of their job (take order, bring food) I don’t see a problem. If they deliberately perform poorly to “punish” a non-tipper, then that is indeed a problem.

I don’t condone it, but I’m not surprised by it.

Eating at a restaurant is not an entitlement. So get fucked.

Like I said before-if you can’t afford to tip, then the waiter can’t afford to serve you.

Dumbass.

Recieving a tip is not an entitlement.

“Dumbass”? Guin, let’s not make this personal, ok?

I don’t really understand this. If tipping is such a big fucking deal why don’t they assume a mandatory service charge policy?

In the meantime, fuck it, it’s voluntary and if you’re a waitress bitching about ‘cheap fucks’ in this thread bear in mind that you essentially live on charity and biting the hand that feeds you isn’t likely to engender more tip money. In other words, just be fucking grateful, or find a job which doesn’t force you to rely on the goodwill of others.

Ben, who always tips and works in a service industry job in which taking tipsis forbidden.

I think it should be a law that anyone who intentionally stiffs a waitress/waiter just because they’re too cheap, or “don’t like the system”, should be immediately sentenced to a term of no less than 6 months of being forced to work the graveyard shift at their local Denny’s/IHOP/whatever-crap-24-hour-restaurant-fills-up with-obnoxious-drunks-after-the-bar-closes.

As it’s been stated, if you can’t afford to tip, you can’t afford to eat out. No, I don’t give a flying fuck what your dire straits are. You don’t like it, there’s the take-out window. I’m not paying taxes on what you’re not tipping me, because you can’t afford the extra couple bucks, you cheap bastards. What makes you think I can afford to pay taxes on what you’re eating if you don’t tip me???

There’s NOTHING that used to piss me off more than busting my ass bending over backwards for a table, keeping the shit-eating grin plastered on my face only to get stiffed. And I DID remember you people. I’d never give someone bad service for stiffing me…but I’ll be godamned if they’re getting more than the bare minimum. And if you want extras? You can wait until I’ve finished taking care of my tipping tables. What? You don’t like it? What are you gonna do, stiff me? You already did that last time, so there goes your leverage. Suck it up and wait.

And Audrey, you GO girl! I used to cocktail at one of the largest bars in the Chicagoland area, and our manager completely backed us on not serving assholes too. Don’t like it? My manager’d point to the door. See, with a line of 100+ other people waiting to get in, my manager didn’t really give a shit if you took your business elsewhere. If you were an asshole, he’d in fact, highly encourage you to do so. If you chose not to go…well, you were perfectly free to stand at the bar and not get served all night too.

side note- my favorite people to hate were the guys who’d not only stiff me, they’d then proceed to HIT ON ME! Uh…yeah, because it’s my life’s dream to date a cheap fuck like you…riiiiight.

And, BlackKnight

See, but you’ve already lost your leverage there, since I remember you didn’t tip me the last 3 times you came in. (hypothetically speaking) Therefore, wtf do I care if you get poor service. See, with every other table complimenting my manager on the fantastic job I did, chances are, he ain’t buyin your “that waitress did an awful job” story anyways…so what are you gonna do about it…not tip me? HAH!

To you, Guin, and Lola:

Suck it up. We’re not going to remain shut-ins, and shouldn’t beshit on by you because you think we’re committing some grevious sin to eat out and not tip because we’re poor.

You self righteous, elitist vermin need a reality check and soon. Your rigid, narrow views are not the only one and you aren’t necessarily right.

That Lola even felt she had the place to pit BlackKnight is revolting.

He’s made it clear tbat he tips when he can. I tip when I can. I’m sure others have to do the same.

Stop bitching at the customer and bitch to your boss. If they want to build the gratuity into the food so they can actually pay servers a dependable living wage, fine.

Your zealous self-satisfied attacks are ridiculous.

See, that right there is what’s wrong with the service industry and some of the people that work in it. That’s fucked up that you would lie to your manager about giving lousy service because you think someone is going to stiff. You should at least be honest and own up to the reason why you gave such lousy service. Then we’ll see how long you’ll keep your job.

You STILL don’t get it?! I certainly hope I don’t have to repeat my drink order three times for you to get it through your head.

See a trend?

Throw me out if you like. Where does it say that I think you have any obligation to serve me? My POINT is that if a customer comes in, and you PREJUDGE them to be mean and rude and not worth your time, and then, rather than throw them out, or get someone else to serve them, you DOWNGRADE YOUR SERVICE, then you shouldn’t expect as big of a tip.

Maybe I’m having a bad day. Maybe I come in and am unfriendly and sit at my table and order my coffee and you might consider me rude. So, you bring me my coffee and cream and throw them on the table and maybe come back once over the course of a couple hours to see if I need a refill. If that’s the case, YOU CAN EXPECT a worse tip than if you walked by every half hour to see if I needed a refill and were pleasant and asked if I wanted a piece of pie too.

I never said you have to serve everyone. I did say that when you provide crappy service, you shouldn’t be surprised when I provide a crappy tip.

No matter how many times it’s said, it’s still wrong. I am not stealing if I do not tip. If you believe otherwise, have the balls to come out and say it: You are stealing if you do not tip and are committing a crime. If you can’t honestly say that, then cut the crap about tipping being part of the cost of eating out.

shrug Fine with me. I don’t want a smile. I want someone to reliably take my order and bring me my food in a timely manner.

Actually, I don’t mind at all, so long as my food gets to my table without an enormous delay and while it is still warm.

If your service is not just average or basic, but actually bad, then I may very well complain to your boss. I almost never do that, though, since I prefer to just not frequent that restaurant in the future and to tell my friends to avoid it. And of course if your service is bad I will not leave a tip.

Wrong. When I have to pay taxes based on what you bought, when you don’t tip, you, point in fact, are taking money out of my pocket. Otherwise known as stealing. May be legal theft, but there it is.
