I was very impressed. Jeff and the “new” ELO (the only other original member was keyboardist Richard Tandy) sounded great! They performed 2 songs of the the new CD, “ZOOM”, as well as a handful of classic hits. The band was tight and faithful to the original material. There also is supposed to be a longer concert scheduled for the August PBS begfest.
Nuts. Missed it. I was figuring VH1 would be airing another round of BtM-Poison, or their new bio-pic on Natalie Cole.
I always miss the stuff I really want to see.
By-the-by, your username is my favorite ELO song. Just thought I share that…
Thanks! It’ll be on again on 6/19 at 1PM and 6/20 at 11:30PM.
It’s definitely worth a look.
Oh, Mr. Blue…you’re sweet to fill me in. I’ll think of you the whole time I watch it. Thanks!
I don’t normally do “Me too!” replies but this one applies.
“Mr. Blue Sky” is not only my favourite ELO song but one of my favourite songs period.
Just to confirm BTW, it really is just a kid’s song about the hopefulness of it all. Right?
minlokwat, I have no idea, myself. But since I first heard it when I was a kid…I’d have to say that that’s what I always thought it was. One of those rare songs which open the imagination. Anyway, it did for this little kid.
Be interested in knowing for sure, though.
Jeff explains the meaning behind this song on the show. It it very rare to see him talk about anything much less his music. He seems to be very personable and funny. The band does a great version of “Mr. Blue Sky” among others.
