Hey, Floridopers, ready for Jeanne?

We have power back now, so I’m over my tantrum. Carm, please take over. Here, I’ll even throw some pillows on the floor so you won’t hurt yourself.

damnitdamnitdamnit
I am in Ormond by the Sea on the east coast , and this was the worst so far. We started getting heavy winds Sat nite and they didnt let up until early this morning. Of course, the power went out Sun at 430 am, and who knows how long it’ll take this time. We were powerless for 3 days after Charlie, and 5 days after Frances.
Once again we have to replace everything in the fridge and freezer. Hurricanes are expensive! We lost the rest of the fence and had some minor roof damage but no flooding this time. The damn fence piles can just stay where they are for all I care.

Damnit.

YAY! My brother called me right after I posted and our power is on! Amazing! I am thrilled!

I’m all better now too. This week I made a batch of home made chicken dumpling soup because I’ve been sick forever (or 10 days).

I saw red when my power went out at 5pm. I will not lose my 9 batches of frozen goodness. Bit the bullet, called stupid ex-husband to be and used his freezer. Mr. Fancypants has a generator.

Today our power came back on (used the old… call home to see if answering machine picks up trick). Did the same for husbands house. So at 4pm I was able to plug his refrigerator back in and grab my food and go.

Oh and Karl can bite me.

Wow, as I drove into my neighborhood tonight I saw the lights come on. And when I got home I got a phone call, showing that my phone was back, and my cable modem came up instantly! And at work I solved a problem that was chewing my ass for two days. I’m a smilin’ sonofabitch right now.

Power was out from 1PM Sunday to 6AM Tuesday, seemed like a month. With no AC it’s hard to sleep when you’re all sweaty. I drove around looking for a hotel, some had no power, others had water damage, the ones that were in good shape were booked up, of course. We had a few big limbs down, I saw some billboards blown over a few blocks away. There’s random stop lights out, have to be careful driving.

I’m not sure what I will be able to salvage from my refrigerator. I didn’t have much in there, but I hate to throw things out. Life without power is no fun at all. Just take a minute and write down all the things you need power to operate. I missed my AC the most, then the Internet, then the refrigerator, not to mention lights, hot water, stove, microwave, telephone and TV.

If these storms would rumble though and knock down a couple trees, blow over a couple fences, and twist a couple street signs, it wouldn’t be too bad. But when it takes your power away, that’s just too much. I never thought I would want to give a lineman a big hug, but if I would have seen one around 6AM Tuesday morning, I might have been tempted.

On the way back this afternoon I saw several emergency vehicles on the corner about two blocks from my office. A quick look showed what appeared to be a whole bunch of large tree limbs with a person or two under it. Some more sirens and police and fire vehicles went roaring in. I hope whoever was under there is okay but it really didn’t look to good.
