Lots of bad weather, so I hope y’all are indoors and snuggled up and warm.
Dondra had to work today, so I’ve been by myself for 14 hours. She’s back now but it’s 12 hours again tomorrow. It’s the thing I hate most about being batshit crazy: I can’t take care of us like I want to, and lately (well, since we remarried and I found out about my dementia) I’ve become a real “clinging vine”. I hate that too.
I know. I oughta be grateful, shouldn’t I? I am, and she’s a wonderful lady. I just wish I could do more.
So what’s up wit’ yo bad selves? Have a great day with the kids and family, get lots of neat stuff from the big guy in the red suit? I got some clothes and maybe I’ll post a pic later, as some of you soccer fans might like to see it!

Just finished dinner (prime rib, Brussels sprouts with some cheese sauce I whipped up, roasted acorn squash). Watched the snow come down earlier (pics on FB).
I’m all right. The weather here isn’t bad at the moment, as in it’s not snowing and there’s no storm, but holy hell, is it cold! Cold enough to freeze the ears off a grass donkey, as I read in an Archie comic once.
Doing nothing is okay too. It’s what I did all day. We have Charter and free use if HBO, SHO, and CMX, but there ain’t a damn thing on, on any of those I either haven’t seen or worth a shit. So I caught up on my reading of free books I downloaded onto my Kindle today.
Something to watch out for is their ratings system, though. Sometimes they won’t rate or lowly rate a movie that’s actually really good. For example “The Revenant” is a VERY COOL movie, if you like Zombies with a conscience.
“Grass Donkey”, huh, Emily? I like it. Cleaned it up for the kiddies, I reckon. I used to read Archie. I was in love with Betty. Glad you’re okay. We have one of those fake fireplaces that take jellied alcohol as fuel, but it’s been too damn warm here, so we’ve got the ceiling fans running. I’d like a little snow and the weather a little colder, but as they say, “No accounting for peoples’ tastes”, right?
I’m trying to recover from Christmas now. Family started showing up at 9:00 this morning, the last one just left. This is the last year for that nonsense. Next year we’re pretending to go away someplace.
Guess I’m lucky in that regard then, TriP. We never get invited to my brother’s for the holidays and I never go to D’s family’s (never have fit in there), so this is the way I like it. We do up the house for a German Christmas (I just took down the tree), enjoy a quiet evening together, eat some (okay, a LOT) of Stollen filled with Marzipan, and go to bed listening to the windchimes. Sometimes I dream of being a little boy enjoying the snow at home. That to me, is a nice holiday, so yeah, I recommend you telling the family whatever you need to, to spend the holiday as you like it.
Bmalion, I stay away from Christmas movies these days except for “The Polar Express”. To me, they all seem pretty much formulaic, including TPE (I know, don’t ask me to explain it. :)).

We just got home from dinner my mom’s house. My kid brother called from TN a while ago and my son has been talking to him for 20 minutes. I love that they get a long so well, even though they are far away from each other.
Rhiannon, Die Hard, of course! Didn’t even cross my mind, thanks! There are several others during which Christmas just happens to be a part of the film. True Crime (Eastwood), I think, is another. I bet if we all gave it some thought (me especially) we could come up with a bunch more.

Guin, that’s the first reaction of that kind I’ve ever read to TPE. I don’t know much about animation, but could it be they used real actors to make the animated ones? The little black girl looks really human.
