hey guys, need your help

Hey guys (and women with good ideas as well), I need the classic help with christmas presents. Something for a computer nerd who loves music, The Beatles, gadgets and building things. I know there are HUNDREDS of gift ideas, but I have to be around $50 to 70. HELP?? I have a few ideas, but I thought the amazing intelligence of the SD would be able to think of stuff that I can’t.

Beatles 1 cd approx. 15$
Anthology book 60$
It is so simple to shop for some one else.

Do they have The Beatles Anthology book? It lists for $60, I think, but can be had much cheaper than that.

It’s quite good and a treat for any Beatles fan.

It goes for about 100$ CANADIAN. Sorry, I forgot to meantion that I am in Canada and greatly hindered by our economic status.

But, I appreciate the ideas!

“Likes computers and gadgets” - first thing that springs to mind is those Lego Mindstorm sets. Kids today have the coolest toys, I tell ya…and you’re never too old for Legos.

The Leatherman Wave multipurpose tool.

A Dremel tool.

A WHAT? Pardon my ignorance, but what is this and where do I find one?

Max, I LOVE LEGO! That could be good, a gift for both of us!

My SOG power lock can kick the shit out of your leatherman. Plus, mine is finished in titanium nitrate. I looked at the Wave Tool and laughed.

'Course, mt SOG retails for like $100 or something like that. But, I could get you one for roughly $45 American.

mmmm, thanks. I am just not sure I can find it in my price range, but I am getting some ideas. Keep em coming.

I found a silver-plated mouse for my son while shopping last night at http://www.redenvelope.com – great site. Found it via a Barnes & Noble promo, and for a limited time, if you put “bnnred” in your order, shipping is free.

They also had Leatherman tools and lots of other neat gadgets.

I found a tool kit for my daughter-in-law, a car washing kit (marked down from $75 to $28) for a son, and some really original picture frames.

If you live near a Costco, you might want to give them a look. Just saw Anthology for $55. Canadian!! Thinking of buying it myself. Supposed to be real good.

Since you live in Canada, just get your son a mega the roo. That’s what I’ve always wanted. I suspect everyone wants one of those. They are user friendly, nice to look at, intelectually stimulating, funny, etc. Much better gift than a Leatherman or a SOG. I don’t think they make mega the roos with a Titanium Nitrate finish, but that’s no big deal because they are already rust proof, and snow proof. Yep… that’s what I think you should get him. I think they are hard to find though. I know they don’t have any here in the States.

There is also a more economical Swiss Army Knife that has electronics adapted appurtenances as well. Be sure to always buy the Victorinox brand or not at all. Spare CD jewel cases are always welcome too.

Yeah, but mine’s an honor student!

Amazon.com’s tool catalog has a good price on the Leatherman Wave. Something like $64.00.

If you want something that’s just cool, try the Levitron top: http://www.explorastore.com/main/product.asp?invky=168&sec=mag

At buy.com, they have the Beatles Anthology book for only $29.99…certainly a hell of a deal

As for the 1 CD…well, I have some grumbles about the songs on there (as I’m sure every other Beatles fan does)…but well, I suppose it’s the most objective way to put together 1 CD of hits. Personally, instead of giving people the 1 CD, I’d put together my personal favorites and burn them onto CD and give those out instead…much more personalized :).

The book, however, should fit into the 70 dollar window rather easily
