Someone I know, a middle school orchestra teacher, was arrested last week for having a sexual relationship with one of his former students, a 14-yr-old! This guy is 48 and married with three children. Unbelievable. I can’t imagine what was going through his head. His mug shot in the newspaper made me so sad; I’ve known him to be a very kind man, but he sure looked like a sex offender in the picture!
Re: my dumb Uncle, he bought a DVD of Passion of the Christ from some guy who wandered into his barbershop, and gave the DVD to his 85-yr-old father for his birthday! On a Sunday! My Mom tried to clue him in ahead of time but apparently the information didn’t sink in - like, duh, this isn’t a great bargain, it’s copyright violation! And it’s supposed to be, um, religious and stuff. So when he presented the gift she pointed out what it actually was (which was probably unkind of her, but anyone with a lick of sense should have known it anyway) and they all traipsed into the other room to view the thing (except for Uncle, who stayed back pouting). She reports that it started out fine, then went into a blur and refocus mode about a minute into it. Can you imagine giving an old man a pirated DVD for his birthday?

The last I heard of a Bio professor (college) was a news report he had been arrested and charged with distributing huge amounts of child porn. This was in the '80s. He was eventually convicted of kidnapping and rape of a child. :eek: Last week he was listed as one of the 5 most wanted sex offenders in Cook County.
