… barring some executive decision to cut me off the show.
The topic is the status of Black families. I’ve done a little research on the topic, and a colleague recommended that I participate to the show producers. Unbelievably our NPR affiliate in Austin doesn’t carry the show on the air, but if your affiliate gets On Point from 11-12 noon EST, tune in - you can even call in!
That’s awesome! I enjoy the show, except for the call-in portion. The host, Tom Ashbrook, is quite good at wrangling difficult callers, though. I’ll be sure to listen.
… and pull the plug friends, I won’t be on the show. I just got an e-mail from the producer that they are going in a different direction… I’m not sure what that’s code for, but they apologized and said that they hoped to have me on a future show.
I’ll still be listening. The professor at Vandy who suggested I join the discussion uses my book in her course, so I’ll be interested to see what she says.
I have done an NPR show before - Talk of the Nation, about five years ago. That was fun. Maybe my stuffy nose turned them off…
Sorry, Hippy Hollow. But getting asked is still pretty awesome and much farther than most people get. Hope you get the chance to do it for real some time (again)!
