NONONO!!! Not yet!!! I still have four days before I have to admit that I don’t always know everything.
Last month I made a bet with someone in the Microfilm Dept AND my boss that it would snow on or before Halloween. Somehow it snowballed and I’m going to have to pay SIX people off if I lose.
This has become a really big deal for us. Pity us, our lives are that lame.
A couple of weeks ago, we all had a conference call to be sure that we understood the rules. The snow has to happen in the area that we work or live. I am trusting them to honestly report because I live about 1500 feet lower than they do.
I’ve been pointing at clouds and warning everyone that its going to snow on Sunday…telling them that they won’t be able to cry in their beer because I’ll have all of their money. I’ve also quietly worried about being able to pay my mortgage if I lose. They have wrote down numbers for gamblers anon and all.
So…Don’t rush the date. If I actually have to pay them their 30 cents (I bet them each a nickle), I want to wait for the very last minute. 
5-8" of snow predicted? And power failures likely? What. The. Fuck. It’s not even Halloween yet! Prior to Halloween we only get dustings of snow like last night. It’s the rule, been like that all my life. Even New England isn’t supposed to get several inches of snow this early in the season! It’s only mid-autumn for fuck’s sake!
Jesus, I’m glad we bought our new snow thrower over Labor Day weekend, because the news is reported that in MA most stores are already sold out for the year. I can’t imagine the supply will hold out much longer here.

Iiiit’s fucking snowing. Parentals are going to Vietnam on the 1st, and I had to do prepwork all day to give them a hand. In effing four to eight inch style heavy snow. Big-ass wet can’t see a thing snow.

Calm yourself, woman. She was only talking about brainstorming ideas for the thread title, not jumping the gun on the thread itself.
That storm just knocked out power here. For three seconds. Which caused the DVR to have to reboot. Dammit, TIVO, what brain damaged architecture are you using that requires a ten minute reboot every time the power glitches? Even Windows can boot faster than that.
And, if you’re going to go tits up whenever the lights dim, can we skip the cheery animations and "Just a bit longer"s?
My doctor put me on steroids for these fun little lumps under the skin on my legs that are apparently there because I’m pregnant. The steroids reduce the inflammation but have this awesome side effect of causing my ankles and feet to increase to elephant size. After a week of barely being able to put my shoes on, I decided to stop the steroids and just deal with the lumps. Now they are hot and itchy…and I’m still swollen. I can’t wait until this baby comes out so I can see what my ankles look like again!

The porta potty went away yesterday. Its up the street, across the street from Tony. Of couse, he has used it.

LOL I bought a huge capacity one from Tiger Direct [the kind that does a stack of servers] and it handles my cable box, the router, the modem and the TV. [my HP computers each came with a UPS as part of the incentive package so I don’t worry about the 2 desktops, and mrAru and I are more normally surfing on laptops in bed in the late evening.]
I am cheesed off that I missed the first 20 minutes of Grimm and now have to find it online to catch the whole thing.
I belong to several groups from meetup.com. One of them is a large(1,000+ members), general interest group. I’ve never attended an actual meetup with them and after the latest newsletter, I never will. The organizer sent a WTF email to all the members, summarized:
“If I hear anybody in my group EVER goes to a SEX CLUB like [names 4 members], I will KICK YOUR ASS OUT. I will not support that perverse crap. If you don’t like it, get the hell out of my group.” (Capitalization his)
He’s not holding any meetups at any SEX CLUBS, which is fine with me, since SEX CLUBS aren’t really my thing. I don’t understand how he knew those members went to a SEX CLUB or why it’s his business what anybody in his group does in their non-meetup time.
What other “perverse crap” will he not support? Will I get kicked out if I go to a STRIP CLUB? What if I go to a MUNCH? A FURRY CONVENTION? A PLAY PARTY? Get an account at FETLIFE? What if I were GAY? I have no idea what his prejudices are.
In other meetup.com news, a group where I did attend some meetups, got shut down when the organizer quit and no one replaced him. We got together to play improv comedy games. I had a lot of fun doing it.
No one seems to have any ideas on a good replacement MP3, which is sad news for me.
On the plus side, thanks to a bit of digging on the net and a lot of repetitious activity on my part, things seem to be fixed. At least for now, the computer sees the player, and the player is reacting as expected when plugged into the computer.
I’m still looking for a new player, though. This is obviously an early warning signal.
