Hey MADs.. Cirque du Soleil, anyone?

Cirque du Soleil is coming to Baltimore in April. I went to one years ago and absolutely loved it. So, of course, I’m going to make it to this one.

Anyone else in the DC/Balt area plan on going? Spring, Inner Harbor, Lots of shops, Cirque du Soleil. Sounds like a great day out to me.

Yeah! Us! Wheeee! I can hardly wait!

Theios - your link tells when and how much, which is good. But for those of us who are ignorant of such things, do you have a link to what Cirque du Soleil is?

Cirque du Soleil is a show featuring some of the greatest athletes I’ve ever seen doing some of the craziest stuff imaginable. I saw this one lady do a backflip from one tightrope to another and then slide the 30 feet down to the ground on one of the anchor ropes.

And that was just the beginning. Wow.

Oh, and there’s a story to go with it, too but who’s paying attention to that?

Too bad we can’t go. I’ve been dying to see them live.

Scroll down to the bottom of the linked site. Click the gold colorde icon in the lower left the says “Home” beneath it. Somewhere on their site there should be a much better description than I could ever give. (I see that their webpage is still acting flacky)
Basically, it’s a circus. No animals, only human performers. The music, the costums and the perfomances mesh so well with one another. It’s pretty freakin’ cool! You might be able to find a video of some of the past shows down at your local video rental.

Saw it in Sydney about five years ago, and was very impressed; much more than i expected to be.

I’m afraid that my income does not stretch to $45 (minimum) shows at the moment, and as i’ve already seen it i think i’ll have to pass.

Hope you all have a good time. If you haven’t been before, it’s certainly worth seeing.

I wanna go ::whine::. I missed them when they came to MN. :frowning:

I’ve seen them on TV.

RT, it’s basically a circus without animals. They do stunts and performances that will wow you. But it can be a little pretentious in that ‘I am an artiste’ sort of way.

Still, it can impress the hell out of us mere mortals.

TV doesn’t do the shows justice. Being there is a magical, enthralling experience. I saw this show a few years ago when it came to Tyson’s Corner and I will be in Baltimore to see it again.

Oh lookie; my Cirque du Soleil thread from three years ago still exists:

Is there any interest in making this a Doper thing? Maybe Cirque and some dinner? If not, I’ll be ordering my tickets soon.

I’d be up for a doper-type thing. I’ll probably go otherwise.

One of my childhood friends (well, friend of the family, really) has auditionned to play the little girl “main character” in Quidam. I really really hope she gets it! Quidam was the last show I saw, though I’ve seen Saltimbanco and Alegria as well. I really want to see Dralion and Varekei, but I just don’t have the money :frowning: Maybe someday!

We’d be in for a Dope-dinner and a show.

Hello there… does anyone want to think about this? Perhaps choose a date and time?

I dunno, I’d really like to go, but the tickets are bit pricy. I’ll think about it.

Wow, that sounds interesting. I’m certainly interested in going! It’d have to be a weekend-thing for me though…
