I honestly haven’t the faintest if this should go here or in GQ, but since this is opinion based I figured here was best, although Mods can move it if need be.
Hey marketing people what is your experience with online press release websites? My internship is requiring me to look into them and we will eventually buy one/join one, but there are a lot to see and I’m wondering what everyone here has used and what your experiences are with them? I found a website that compares a bunch and I’m looking into those mostly, but they all kinda sound relatively the same, does anyone have any experience with these sites? other ones? All opinions are welcome! Thanks!!!
I haven’t used them in several years, but different distribution services tend to be referenced by different types of business reporters, and used for different types of releases. PR Newswire and Businesswire, for example, have traditionally been used for old-school corporate communications, e.g., we’re announcing a new CEO, declaring a quarterly dividend, acquiring a company, etc. Similarly, one service might find its niche with tech businesses, another with retail, etc.
My suggestion is to look and see what kind of releases they tend to carry and figure out where your company fits in.
I’m a little concerned about the one that only has a 67% retention rate, but even that could be because they handle a lot of start-ups that don’t survive.
