None, I suspect. Whatever the number, it will be utterly dwarfed by the number of “Republican collective” members who swallow ludicrous shit like Obama the Sekrit Moozlem, the “Clinton Body Count” and Pizzagate.
Don’t worry; your ace ranking on the gullibility scale is not under any threat from the left.
You don’t seem to understand the difference between “fake news” (which is made-up stuff that the author is trying to pass off as fact) and “fiction” or “satire” (which is made-up stuff that the author is clearly presenting as made-up).
A satirist writes fiction.
Yes, that’s what satirists do, including the well-known satirist Andy Borowitz.
I wish them (the satirist) the best of luck trying to earn a living.
Award-winning satirist/writer/comedian Andy Borowitz, with two best-selling books, a position at the prestigious New Yorker, over half a million Twitter followers, and sold-out comedy performances around the world, seems to be doing just fine, thank you.
I still wonder how many members of the Democrat collective will believe this fake news story, or pass it on as fact?
Well, most Democrats don’t have the difficulties that you seem to have in understanding and identifying satire, or telling the difference between “satire” and “fake news”.
Actually, conservatives care quite strongly about transgender bathroom issues, with a solid two-thirds of Republicans and conservatives believing that transgender people should use the bathroom assigned to their birth gender rather than the gender that they identify as.
Why do you think conservative politicians have been stirring the shit with their gender-policing bathroom bills in the first place? Because they know conservative voters will reliably get excited over opportunities to interfere with “weird” other people who are just minding their own business.
Liberals are the ones who actually “don’t care about transgender bathroom issues”: we tend to think that everyone should just use whatever restroom is appropriate for the gender they identify as, without having anyone scrutinize what’s in their underwear or what’s on their birth certificate. Conservatives are the ones demanding such nosy and intrusive scrutiny.
Indeed. This OP demonstrates once again the close psychological affinity between Trumpists and America’s gun nuts.
Trump and his ilk insult everyone in sight and bravely mock a crippled reporter, but cower and call for the babysitter’s help when someone calls them names (or mentions their short fingers ).
Similarly, a right-wing gun nut may act like he’s the hero of a John Wayne or Gary Cooper movie but cowardly draws his weapon and fires when a small dog runs at him, barking, missing the dog and injuring a human toddler(*). Or whines that he can’t tour Europe because he’s too afraid without his gun.
(* - Yes, that really happened — the child shooter was a cop — as did hundreds of other disgusting incidents.)
And such a hideous fucking prospect you’d have no problem with, then? You’re 100% certain that you, yourself, will not, in way shape or form, be somehow adversely affected by anything that comes of the new administration? And, if not, then it’s - oh well, tough shit for those who will be affected, then?
Cite.
Gee quite commendable the GOP never comported themselves like that in all those 50 years.
Oh, I have little doubt that if in some mirror universe where the SDMB leaned conservative and we had a time machine and it was when Obama was “coming” into power…
Yeah, the white red necks would be having the vayours and shit…
The difference IS I can see the same shit on both sides…
Is that the mythical “Universal Political Equality Law” you are referring to where you posit, without a fucking scintilla of evidence, that if roles were reversed “They” would behave exactly like “Us”, thereby supposedly excusing anything and/or everything “We” do?
You aren’t seeing the same shit on both sides-you are just trying to cover up the reality with the imaginary.
Does the part where I said “there’s a lot of shit slinging by liberals” lead you to believe that I don’t see that there’s a lot of shit slinging by liberals?
Characterizing the 2016 election as a titanic shift 50 years in the making is a rather big stretch.
The problem with this narrative is that it hinges on some 90k voters across three swing states, or about 0.07% of votes cast, having pulled the trigger for Trump thus putting him over the EC edge. The 2016 election was ludicrously close, its outcome in no way foreordained. If anything, given that HRC’s enormous polling lead cratered only after Comey’s 11th hour Weiner letter, I’d call her loss (hence Trump’s win) an accident of history.
Likewise if HRC had squeaked to EC victory on the basis of 90k votes, it would be silly to call it a resounding affirmation that people just adore the Democratic party and all that it stands for.
Did you ask the people which party they voted for, or which positions they supported? Yeah, when asked, a lot of people aren’t going to call themselves “liberal”, because the right has been fighting to make it a dirty word. It’s like you won’t find a lot of self-identifying “right-wingers” in Germany, regardless of how conservative their opinions might be, for the main reason that the “right wing” in Germany became synonymous (note: unlike the term liberal in the USA, fairly) with neo-nazi parties like the NPD and now the AfD.
But when you actually look at the positions people support, the picture becomes a lot clearer. Liberal policies are actually overwhelmingly favored, while conservative policies, to the degree they exist at all, are overwhelmingly not. When it comes to public opinion, the left has been winning the fight pretty consistently - gay marriage, LGBT rights, parental leave, taxation, and a host of other issues.
But of course, that would somewhat obstruct this bullshit rhetoric, wouldn’t it?
After having lived through the Bush administration, I have to say, this is fucking rich coming from a Republican. Did you live in a cabin in the woods from 2000 to 2008? Did you miss the whole “why don’t you support our troops?” “Respect the presidency” “You’re not real Americans” shit thrown at liberals en masse by the conservative punditry and politicos at the time? I can’t really imagine how; I was in grade school and traveling across the world, and I didn’t miss it. It was pretty blatant.
But of course, then Obama came into office and the shoe was on the other foot. Remember when Republicans were offered absolutely no input on Obamacare, after it turned out the democrats had accrued enough political capital to pass it without a single republican vote in any part of the government? Except that didn’t happen. The democrats held out an olive branch and offered the republicans tons of influence, in the hopes that they could work together on a bipartisan solution - after all, it was their fucking plan a decade ago.
Ha. Ha. Ha.
This also ignores the fact that Clinton won millions more votes than Trump, that the republicans have gerrymandered the house of representatives to the point where the democrats would have to beat them by a downright embarrassing degree to get a majority, that a senate vote in Wyoming or Kansas is worth many times what a senate vote in California is worth, and that that so-called “impassioned minority” not only makes up the most powerful, influential, meaningful parts of the country, but also happens to be a pretty damn clear majority.
This.
Coming from a fucking Republican.
From someone whose party went all in behind Donald Trump.
From someone whose party has been screaming “REPEAL AND REPLACE” for six fucking years and has yet to come up with the second half of that equation, because they know damn well that they can’t.
From someone whose party has shown itself unwilling or unable to perform good governance, and instead has grasped at every shred of power they can get their hands on via nullification and abuse of the systems in place to shred democratic norms.
From the guys who think that the correct response to global warming is to stick their fingers in their ears and pretend it doesn’t exist.
You want a party that can reasonably debate policy? While the republican primaries were arguing about Marco Rubio’s dick size - fucking really - democrats were actually spending time talking about important shit, like the minimum wage, how to deal with education, how to handle healthcare, and the like.
There is currently one side of the political spectrum with any actual interest in policy or debate thereof (or good governance or the basic fucking decency to step away from a clueless reality TV star who gets caught bragging about sexual assault). You are not on that side. But by all means, keep getting your straw liberal talking points from Rush fucking Limbaugh. Now there is a pillar of integrity if I’ve ever seen one.
Meh. I think the Dems long term may well have dodged a bullet with HRC’s loss. As for Trump, I’m of the school that his presidency will be much more a catastrophe for him personally and for the Republican Party than for the country overall. Not that I was thrilled he won and the range of outcomes is wider than I’d like.
Enjoy the schadenfreude while you still can, things could get very un-schadenfreudy pretty quickly.
Yes, the political pundit/analyst in me might VERY well agree that the BEST thing near term for democrats/liberals is to have had Hillary having run and LOST. Shit I could probably make a plausible arguement for that very thing…
But the FACT that old bat lost? And it was most very likely her own stupidity and the liberal whatever/whatever that did it?
Yeah right. If you can’t think ahead two days this might be your reality. But to be proudly waving that stupidity flag? Things go wrong for your party, your philosophy, your movement, and your going to have to see it trashed over the long term, 4 or 8 years. Your standard bearer is determined feed his ego with almost no sleep or down time!!! Have any thoughts? “Yeah the old bag lost”? Good luck. You’re going to need it. What do you think your IQ is?
This sort of gleeful shifting of responsibility always strikes me as very weird. “Ha Ha! You weren’t able to stop us from doing something so stupid that we should have been able to see with half an eye how stupid it was! But we didn’t, so it’s your fault for not stopping us! How pathetic are you, not even being able to restrain us from self-evidently cretinous levels of stupidity? Ha Ha!”
I’m not sure these Trump supporters have a very clear idea of whom that joke is actually on.
Dude, this isn’t a football game that our team lost on a last-second field goal.
This is a problem with politics today-- people look at it like a sporting event. They root for their team no matter what, and love shoving a “loss” in their opponents’ faces.
Heck, the U.S. has always had a significant racist anti-intelligence fascist-loving underbelly. In 2016, the country rolled over in its pigpen and proudly showed it off.
