Hey meryl streep, you are a play-actor, nothing more

Trump tweeted that she is “an overrated actor”. Sort of like saying pastrami is an overrated sandwich meat.

No shit she is a very good PLAY-Actress, I have seen most of her films and always admired her talent.

See how you just jumped to a conclusion about me the same way she did about his supposedly mocking a disabled journalist?

Watch the video I linked to WITH AN OPEN MIND, if you are capable of that.

Some of those things aren’t substantiated.

I did, it was 12 minutes of someone trying to distract us from the fact that Trump lied repeatedly about seeing thousands of people cheering the 9/11 attacks in Jersey.

I can’t say with certainty that he was mocking that reporter’s handicap, but the correct response would have been something along the lines of, “Oh shit, I realize now how that must have looked, I’m sorry about that. It wasn’t my intention.” Instead he lashed at out anyone who came to the perfectly reasonable conclusion that he was mocking the reporter’s disability. That just makes him seem guilty.

Let me stop you right there. Why is it acceptable to have a man who physically mocks *anyone *as our president? Without watching the video, the fact that there are multiple examples of him physically mocking people that we can now compare and contrast? Fucking pathetic. I wouldn’t accept this behavior of my six year old.

The man is a vile human being who shouldn’t be withing 1000 feet of the Oval Office, and so deserves every challenge and mocking he receives over the next four years.

Perhaps he and you would like us to find you and him a safe space? I’m just surprised how delicate Trump and his supporters actually are.

Could not have said it better myself. Agree 100%.

MS is, without question, one of the greatest actors of our time. But that doesn’t mean I want to hear her yapping about politics at an awards show.

It’s funny to talk about “AN OPEN MIND” while linking to a video that talks about the “dishonest liberal media” and other such nonsense.

This is what Trump does. He lashes out at people who call him on his bullshit, and he gets personal. Rather than simply ignoring Meryl Streep, which is what you’d expect a president-elect to do, he said she was “over-rated.” He went personal for no reason, attacking her talent, which absolutely nobody, even you, questions. Is it really a stretch to think that he’d lash out at this reporter in a personal way?

Well, she has been called a “phony-baloney”.

Do some more research on why she recanted.

You state things as facts when you couldn’t possibly know whether they’re facts or not.

Not sure how that video is supposed to prove anything or make Trump look *better *in any way. A 70 year old man who expresses himself like a 14 year old boy, complete with animatedly mocking people -regardless of who they are- is an embarrassment. Seriously, we should give him a pass because “oh, he mocks *everyone *that way” ?:dubious:

As for Ms. Streep’s speech, I would generally prefer thank you speeches be about the business of thanking people but there have always been recipients who have used it as an opportunity to express their views. Also, of all the award ceremonies, I believe the Globes is the one most geared to the attendees (as opposed to the viewing audience). I probably don’t have to tell the OP that the vast majority of people in that room (and possibly the viewing audience) agree with MS.

WATCH THE FUCKING VIDEO. He seems to do it for anyone caught in a lie. If he seems to do it for other people, I give him the benefit of the doubt.

It’s going to be a long four years.

He’s mocking the reporter’s clubbed hand repeatedly. It’s not a stretch, it’s obviously literally what he’s doing.

I mean, am I taking crazy pills here?

Is it? When Matt Lauer asked Hillary a question that wasn’t on the list of questions approved beforehand, all I read was how Matt Lauer was unfair to her and favored Trump, WHICH WAS NOT THE CASE.

I’m not going to WATCH THE VIDEO. Trump is a pussy.

No, he does the “mongoloid” voice for other two people. Like any twelve year old would. The hand gesture is obviously a direct reference. I mean, you can see that, can’t you?

And yet you belittled her profession and stated that she was not a “grown-up”.

The only conclusion I jumped to about you was that your OP was stupid, and there’s ample evidence in this thread to support that view, particularly as OPs that essentially consist of “See this video? I agree with it! But you can’t argue with me unless you watch this whole video!” are always weak and suggest that the author is unable to formulate and defend a coherent argument of their own. Which you certainly haven’t done yet.

Says the person doggedly determined to defend a very weak point.

Trump didn’t just “supposedly” mock a disabled journalist; he blatantly did so. But let’s say he was just doing a generic “cowering” gesture. Is it your contention that this puts him in a more favorable light? That being an equal-opportunity asshole is somehow better than mocking a specific person’s disability? Does that make him look more presidential? In short - is this the best defense you can muster?

Jesus H. Shitballs, why is that better? So rather than specifically imitating this specific disabled person, his default method of mocking people is to do a generic imitation of a disabled person? And that makes it better?
