Once again, that’s not at all persuasive as evidence that Trump wasn’t mocking Kovaleski’s physical disability.
Especially when you look at what Trump actually did, including his reference to Kovaleski as “the poor guy, you gotta see this guy” before going into his physical impersonation, and his “spazzy-looking” expression and voice, it’s entirely plausible that he was making fun of Kovaleski’s disability.
All that your side-by-side video (with the words removed so you can’t actually hear Trump saying “the poor guy, you gotta see this guy” before drawing his bent right hand up in imitation of Kovaleski) shows is that Trump is not a particularly good impersonator of persons with disabilities (or anybody else).
But that doesn’t mean that that’s not what he was trying to do.
Yes it’s funny. And he still gets to throw someone under the bus. A win win in his books. Can anyone provide a quote where Trump has ever said anything self deprecating?
I’m not sure a suggestion that starts with “maybe” could be called insistent, but no big deal. Anyway, the audio seems relevant so it shouldn’t be omitted.
Based on the visual alone, though… Trump looks rather buffoonish. I’m not seeing a reason to extend him overly-generous benefits of doubt in light of his follow-up behaviour.
Of course, I’m also not seeing a reason to feel particularly upset or surprised. Trump being a lout and bully is hardly a shocking revelation at this late date and I gather many Americans simply don’t care even if they say they do.
Personally, I’d shrug it off if he turns out to be an exceptional president by objective measure.
I don’t find Streep’s attack to be acceptable or dignified. Trump defended himself. The Hollyweird-types then had a conniption fit because Trump defended himself from her attack, and they still appear to be embarrassed by their failure to convince enough voters to vote for Hillary. It appears that many people won’t buy a much used politician based on a play actors recommendation. Life goes on.
Certainly seems to be a lot of Hillary supporters spinning the news as fast as they can. Didn’t seem to help Hillary get elected. Better luck next time.
Perhaps I could borrow yours? What is ol’ Hillary up to these days? Bill seems to have time, and interns, on his hands. Obama is out. Nobody seems to be paying attention to him, anymore.
Not to worry. Trump is going to be mentioning Obama often, as he’ll need someone to blame for his fuckups over the next few years, before he’s impeached or quits in disgrace.
Nope - he childishly lashed back at her with his usual moronic polemics. That’s you’re idea of a valid defense? Do us all a favour, doorhinge - do not get into law.
Don’t like movies, then?
Or, wait - it’s that sinful, deviant culture, huh?
How old are you - 82?
Project much? You somehow saw embarrassment, then? And it was because they didn’t shill enough for Hillary?
I think you would be at home more at breitbart, doorhinge, and leave some of the more reasoned right-of-centre commenters here. Your repetitive, weak, unconvincing, embarrassing, verging-on-trollery, obtuse, bull-shittery for everyone to see here doesn’t seem to be making much of an impression on you.
I get the feeling that some who don’t like the speech somehow think that the Trump administration won’t affect her, that it’s somehow an abstraction to her because of her wealth and/or fame. I think that’s ludicrous.
I mean, would the detractors here dismiss George Takei talking about gay rights, or equal treatment of minorities by the government?
