Hey meryl streep, you are a play-actor, nothing more

n/m

Like a reality-TV star running for president.

Yeah, but the OP didn’t like getting reminded that he’s in a bubble while watching his favorite awards show.

In fact, reality show hosts can use their celebrity to become president of the USA! Why not indeed?

“Don’t ever tell me or ANYBODY to stop…” You started this thread to tell MS (and basically anyone else in the arts who might have a negative opinion of Trump) to shut up and stop expressing their opinion because you don’t want to hear it. And then you call someone you disagree with Hitler.

I think you just lost the Internet today, dumbass.

Lies like the one Trump was caught in, about seeing thousands of people cheering the 9/11 attacks in Jersey? Is this what Trump looked like when he was caught in that lie?

now THAT was funny:D

I would think that a responsible citizen has a moral duty, if presented with a tremendous civic hazard to her nation, to use such opportunities as arise to speak out and state that there exists a civic hazard. That just makes sense to me. If you are a responsible citizen and there is a major problem in your country, you must be involved, and speaking out in protest is the most fundamental part of involvement, is it not?

Meryl Streep is, in fact, an American citizen. Donald Trump’s Presidency is a matter of public discourse and does, in fact, present a tremendous hazard to the American people. Why should Streep not speak her mind on the issue? More pointedly, isn’t it kind of her job, as a citizen, to do so?

(post shortened)

Streep is an actor, or play actor (someone who acts in plays). Play actors excel at pretending to be someone they are not. Streep excels at pretending to be someone she is not. She’s famous for it. The ability to project sincerity is an important part of play acting. Once you’ve learned to fake sincerity, you’ve got in made in the world of make-believe. Streep seemed very sincere, in a room full of Hollyweird’s elite.

From a personal viewpoint, I find it amusing that anyone would seek/repeat political information from an actor, play actor, or from a comedian.

“Everyone in the world knows”? Everyone? Have you met “everyone”? The Democrat collective “knows” whatever the Democrat collective tells them it’s OK to know. Their Groupthink for all. No other sources of information are deemed acceptable. SSDD.

Who is this “everyone” you are referring to?

Ya know, that commercial with Trump making fun of the disabled reporter ran for months and months and months and months and months and months and more than once per hour in its prime.

If making fun of everyone in the exact same way makes everything just fucking hunky-dory, and he’s been doing that all along, why didn’t he just say so back in, like, September? :dubious:

So much this.

Everyone who knows that no matter how much lipstick you put on a pig, it’s still a pig.

Are you sure you know what Streep said?

I don’t agree with that, but even if I did, are you saying there is a “tremendous civic hazard” in mocking a reporter? I’m not saying it’s a good thing to do, but I wouldn’t call it a “tremendous civic hazard”.

I think you’re prevaricating here. I think you’re using the term"play-acting" in an attempt to denigrate Miss Streep’s career and profession by trying to equate it with something that children do as opposed to something that adults do after years of experience and training.

It doesn’t speak well of you that you would be so obvious with this attempt, nor does it speak well of you that you would then lie about your intentions and actions.

Irony alert, in light of the attitude in your OP towards Ms. Streep. :smack:

This thread has only one virtue: I was about to post that Sandy Koufax is spinning in his grave, but I was pleasantly surprised to learn upon Googling that he is still alive. :stuck_out_tongue:

But awful crotchety, apparently.

I’m sure the Trumpizens will be just fine when a law is introduced making it a federal crime to be mean to Dear Leader.

I’m sorry you special snowflakes are soooo very upset when someone says that bullying is wrong, or that multiculturalism is good. This kind of awful talk must hurt you so very, very much.

I never really liked her before, but now I like her a lot.

I think you need to look at WHO is mocking the reporter. A presidential candidate (at the time), now president. I think this is rather different from Joe Blow mocking a reporter.

I don’t like actors using the stage to express their political views. It doesn’t matter whether I agree with them or not.
