Hey mhendo, look in here, TU/JHU Lax game

Well, it’s about that time. The Johns Hopkins Blue Jays have been cruising through the college lacross ranks, disposing handily of lesser teams.
That ends next Saturday, May 1st, at 3:00 PM. The mighty Towson University Tigers will march onto Homewood Field and leave a small pile of tiny blue feathers in their wake. Last year you said you wanted to go to a Lax game, and I promised to go to this one with you, to help introduce you to the sport. You still up for it?

It’s funny, i was thinking about exactly the same thing as i walked past Homewood Field the other day. I’m definitely still keen to go.

Never having been before, i’m not sure what the deal with tickets/seats is. Does one just buy a ticket and then sit anywhere, or are the seats allocated by row, seat number, etc.? Can we each buy a ticket separately, or do we need to pay together if we’re going to sit together?

Unless they’ve totally changed things when they added on to the stadium, most of the seating is general admition. We just need to arrange to meet before the game starts.

It sounds like a good plan, but there’s a flaw in it. If you’re hoping to see Towson win a lacrosse game on Homewood Field during Alumni Weekend, you’ll have to sit in section “Not bloody likely”, row “Maybe next year, tiger.”

Wait, someone’s handing me a piece of… no, I’ve seen this before. Yeah, that’s my name on it. Oh, damn. I guess I am biased. Never mind me.

See you at the game, Towson.

To tell the truth, i really can’t get too worked up over who wins, but i’m still interested to see the game.

Dave, as you’re a regular, perhaps you can determine the time and place of meeting. According to the schedule, the game starts at 3pm. Let me know where and when, and i’ll see you there.

Hmmm. How about we meet between 2:30 AND 2:45? I can think of 2 places we might meet: Right in front of the Lax Hall of Fame, or at the other end of Homewood Field, the building that stands adjacent to the field, where the locker rooms are ( I guess it’s a gym?), in front of that building there is a statue (facing University Pkwy, looking more or less at the baseball diamond), we could meet at that statue. Which is easier for you? Also, do you have a cell phone? If so, I’ll email you my number, you send me yours and we can coordinate if we keep missing each other.

Anyone else want to go?

I assume that the second building you are talking about is the Rec. Center/Athletic Center building (38/39 on this map)? If so, we could meet in front of that building, where the circular driveway is.

2.30 to 2.45 sounds fine to me. I don’t have a cellphone, but why don’t you email me your cellphone number anyway? I live five minutes’ walk from Homewood Field (in Oakenshawe), and i could call you just before i leave the house to let you know what i’m wearing etc. so we will recognize one another. I’ll email you my home number too, just in case.

That’s the place! See you Saturday.
