Calling All Doper Lacrosse Fans...Navy or Johns Hopkins?

Tomorrow, Sat the 24th, #2 Navy will take on #1 Johns Hopkins at Navy. I am fortunate enough to see this game live, but I’m sure it will be on tv. I’ve got Navy winning by 5.

Anybody else a lacrosse fan out there?

As a Hopkins alum, I must go with JHU. Of course that’s not talking a money bet. “5” sounds very high, though.

I don’t see any Lacrosse living out here in Seattle now. I’m just glad that JHU can still play Division I Lacrosse while being Division III in everything else.

I’ll go with Hopkins winning this one as well, especially after seeing how they dominated Maryland (a very strong team). As fror being on TV, it should be Channel 2’s game of the week, right?

Two weeks ago, Navy spanked Maryland as well. It think it should be a good game never-the-less.

Well, being as we live in Baltimore (BAWLMER) and I work for Hopkins, I’d say it’s sewn up. If you consider the fact that I’d rather poke forks in my eyes than watch sports, we should then leave this decision up to Dave. He’ll choose Hopkins, hands down.

I know who I’d pick in the proverbial New York Minute, but I don’t dare say for fear of jinxing things. I used to jinx the Orioles that way when I was a kid. If I do it to the lacrosse team my dad is rooting for today, he’ll kill me.

JRD – Who did broadcast-day duty at the now defunct WJHU-FM during many a game in 82-84.

Oh, and Qadgop, during my stint at Homewood they did suspend the cannon fire due to some, er, unfortunate incidents. Not having been in B-more for Lax season in 12 years I don’t know if it’s reinstated.

Ah, for those halcyon days when the drinking age in Maryland was 18…(and for the halcyon transition period when we got grandfathered into the new age…)

Cool. Broadcasting from the basement of the New Dorms! (Built in the 1950’s). On good days we could pick up the signal in the Old Dorms (Built 1920’s, 100 feet away).

Did you broadcast any of the 1982 World Lacrosse Games? I attended nearly all of those!

And in optimal atmospheric conditions (and after throwing rocks to chase away the crows perched on the antenna) our 10 mighty watts of power could even make it to North and Greenmount. The ocassional 2am broadcast of a mix of what the DJ brought in with the electrical noise from the laundry room and sampling from some Public Service Announcement deserved no less.

During the World Games I mostly got off actual broadcast duty, as our “serious” engineers/producers would take over.
