So, would the Michigan Dopers like to have some sort of hoedown? I’d love to. I’m thinking maybe after the holidays? Someplace sort of central? Someplace where we can tip some beers, and a cow or two. Whaddya say?
You can sign me up for it. Someplace central? Need a few more responses from some of the other Michiganian Dopers before we can decide on that.

I’d like to, if I could get the time. Probably end up over by Detroit, though, and that’s not a place I go to willingly.
I agree, Detroit is not a good place to meet, although it’s fairly close for me. According to your bio, you’re out there on the west side of the state between Kalamazoo and South Haven. Christi is in Flint and I’m in New Baltimore, so I guess the halfway point would be Jackson? Ann Arbor maybe? BTW, they are having a get together in Chicago next week, maybe that would be a little closer for you. Of course, you are still more than welcome to join us.
This is not just limited to Michiganians. I know there’s at least three or four of you in the Toledo area, which is only an hour’s drive to the Detroit area.

Toledo reporting. Ann Arbor? This is closer to me than a lot of you guys. I’m only about 40 miles away.
I usually hit Ann Arbor 3 of 4 times a year just for an evening out and a great dinner. I love all those restaurants on South Main.

Hey! Nobody gets to tip me without my permission!
Hmmm… Michigan you say… There is a possibility I could join you… Any dates flying around in your head?

Like Christi suggested, it may be easier to wait until after the holidays…that is, if the world doesn’t blow up on January 1st The weekend of January 7-8 or the 21-22 would be good for me. Ann Arbor is only about an hour and a half drive, so that doesn’t sound too bad. I’ve never been there, so I leave it up to somebody else for restaurant and/or bar suggestions.

Ann Arbor is good. I’m from there. I was born in Flint, but didn’t live here until a few years ago. I grew up in & around Ann Arbor. I love Ann Arbor. I hate U-M, but I love Ann Arbor.
Okay, I’ll stop saying Ann Arbor now. There are many great restaurants on Main Street. Hell, there’s a bazillion great restaurants all over town. There’s also Rick’s American Cafe, which has really good music, and the Bird of Paradise, a truly awesome blues/jazz bar. Not very big, but pretty darn cozy. Let’s not forget the Blind Pig. All the cool stuff is clustered in a few-block radius, along with many parking garages, so parking won’t be a problem.
I cast my vote for A-Squared, after the holidays. Unless someone else has a better idea. I’m flexible!
Gratuitous posting to move this up the board.
I’ll agree with the two posters above me.

Cristi-
I don’t know the last time you went to Ricks. But when I was there last (Summer of 96) it was a Frat hangout. Smelled of beer and piss. Not an experience I would want now.
Let me just recommend the Fleetwood Diner for that after drinking eats.
Gosh i miss Ann Arbor!

Let’s throw this back to the top & see if it sticks…
Frankie, thanks for the warning about Rick’s. It’s always been a college bar, but if it’s getting that bad, we can skip it. And the Fleetwood is an excellent idea.
So, does anyone else have any other suggestions? Third week of January is good for me, so far.
I was just waiting for the Michigan get-together to be announced! I’m in Grand Blanc, soon to be Troy, but I agree that Ann Arbor is the most interesting place to meet - only too bad it wasn’t suggested in the summertime, as some Dominique’s Sangria is always a great atmosphere enhancer. What about Ashley’s? Or Grizzley Peak? Or Sweet Lorraine’s? Ah, decisions, decisions…(and I agree, NO Rick’s!!).
I nearly forgot another fun one! Anyone for Connor O’Neil’s?
Just so you know, I won’t be attending for a variety of reasons ( All of them vain and cosmetic.)
I will be fat with pregnancy ( nuff said)
I won’t be able to drink. (nuff said)
With my luck I’d go into labor just when the party was getting good and no one would notice me breathing funny because they were beating some hapless restaurant patron over the head for asking, ‘So, what’s the third word that ends in GRY.’
I want to keep the vision that all of you are tall, skinny Baywatch extra’s ( in Michigan?) in my head, and vice versa…

If you wanna meet in Saginaw, feel free to look up a former Doper and do unmentiomnable things to her…

Saraam! You’re in Grand Blanc? I’m in Flint! Let’s carpool!
Yet another superfluous posting to bring this back to the top.
Grizzly Peak makes great steaks, a couple of pretty good microbrews, has a fair sized bar and even has some decent entrees for the vegetarians. Plus my t-shirt has just about had it; I could use a new one.

Who’s in charge of keeping this on the first page, anyway?
Count me in, provided I’m in town. I live about ten minutes from Ann Arbor.

Saginaw?!? Well, little wonder she is the way she is. Everyone knows if God was to give the world an enema, he’d stick it in Saginaw.
oooh! oooh! oooh! Me too! Me too! What a great time for me to check the Board! I’m in Lansing, but I’ll gladly drive down to A.A to meet up!
You’ll have to give me great directions cause I’ve never been to AA.
Anytime is good for me after the holiday!
Can someone PLLLEEEEEEAAAAAsSSSEEEE keep me posted cause I can’t check the Board as often as I used to cause my new job is really busy!? You’d have my undying gratitude!
