So what’s the news? How you adjusting to life in the Motherland there? I took a look through the recent threads and I haven’t seen anything from you resembling a letter from abroad so I figured I’d ask.
On a somewhat more personal note, did Anniz get the e-mail I sent her with the job link? I found out later it was posted in January, so I hope it hasn’t been closed out yet.
Gnus? There are no gnus in Sweden! There are funky white and black birds, though; just about the only wildlife I’ve seen. It’s weird being in an urban setting without squirrels!
I’ve been here a week and so far, so good. We’ve made two trips to IKEA, which is alternate-universe bizarre – the familiar yellow and blue IKEA sign is red here! Yesterday I made my first solo foray into downtown Stockholm, and spent a few hours wandering gatan and plans, and doing some shopping too.
My Swedish is getting better by the minute, and we’ll be getting the puppy in about a month. For more info, check out my LiveJournal for a day-by-day update on how things are going here.
We did get your e-mail about the job; thanks a lot! I sent along my CV to them and promptly was told they wouldn’t consider me since I’m a foreigner and don’t have a work permit. I wrote back right away and said, “Excuse me, but I do have a work permit, so would you please reconsider my application.” I haven’t heard back since Monday. Since they did bother to write back and not say that it was closed, it apparently is still available.
