As to who I am, I’ve been accused of being 4 different people now and it’s not worth responding to. Anyone who expresses something beyond a ‘milk soft’ opinion here is always accused of being ‘someone else.’ The history of this board has shown that whoever is accused remains under suspicion forever no matter what defense they produce. After reading the past battles over this for over a year prior to signing on, I’ve learned that protests are useless, usually degrade into insults, which range from questions/slander about the accuseds sexuality to intelligence, morality and statements of various forms of bigotry. Then it gets tossed into the pit. If the accused defends him/herself, everything is ignored, twisted, ridiculed, taken out of context and he/she gets cursed at. He/she is demanded to dredge up proof of any statements he/she made concerning things probably read 20 years ago and sneered at if he/she can’t. If he/she does, the references are ripped apart, denied, ridiculed and the harassment continues. If he/she declines to participate in the mass pit stomp, he/she is accused by triumphant posters as being who they claim because he/she is silent – not that he/she has a snowballs chance in a hot oven of making a successful defense against people unwilling to accept it. Then they congratulate each other and take bows for performing like a drunken mob, preferring not to consider the potential for having attacked the wrong person, stroke each other for being intellectual superiors and generally fine fellows all.

Do you think I’ve not been reading the board for quite a while, along with the Straight Dope? Don’t break your arm patting yourself on the back just yet, honey. I’m quite sure that I don’t react or act within your desired parameters. Now that this post is getting thoroughly bollixed up, even if Serlin were to return, what gives people here the right to harass him so long as he obeys the rules? Vigilantes? Why have you people taken it upon yourselves to screw up my post with unfounded accusations? I might have a reason for posting this and might be seeking either absolution, agreement or criticism for the way I handled the situation. Then you guys start changing the subject and who the heck is going to post here now?
DNFTT. Do Not Feed The Troll. See that in one of my posts and there are those who might have had what I was seeking who will not reply, just because you people decide to go on the hunt. Such things, years ago, were called witch hunts, because whoever the mob found was it whether guilty or not.

Smarming your way through the boards like you’re some sort of elite, sitting there in your little clique and picking at those who don’t agree with your specific style of thought, smirking at those you think beneath you and following every one of the ‘rules of the pit’ to the letter – including concentrating on a single error out of an entire thread and ignoring any truths included and if that fails, attacking the poster directly.
The SDMB is a beautiful example of social conceit, cliques, and mental masturbation for pseudo-intellectuals. Unless a poster fits the rules decided by a few, they’re not welcome and no matter what they say or write, they’re ridiculed and attacked.

weird. Although I can view his spaceship and battlebots, as well as some charming pictures of other dopers, the serlin picture is still inacssesible to me. Very strange.
Can’t see it either, oldscratch. Maybe they won’t let you see the pic if you lean to the left politically?
