No! Idiot! What if he had a thing about, say, Americans? Wouldn’t hire any of them (the cheeky bastards!) That would be no more right than excluding the VAST majority who eat meat.
You fucking militant vegans ought to shut the fuck up! I would defend to the death, your right to eat anything you want, or NOT eat anything you want. But if you try to impose your views on me, I’m gonna smack back hard, as hard as I can! Fuck you!
No - the reason Paul gets to dictate is becasue he’s the one paying the bill. I’m afraid if you want to eat dead baby cows, you’ll have to do it on your own time.
I’m going to go against the popular sentiment of the poster, and say Paul McCartney and company are being total pricks. Is it their right? To an extent, yes, but not to the extent of the quote:
“We can’t control what they do in their spare time,” a spokesman for the concert organizers told Aftenposten. “But as long as they’re inside the stadium area, it’s correct that they are banned from eating meat.”
To that I say “Bullshit!” They don’t own the stadium. When the crew is eating, they are on their own time. If they decide to bring their own food to eat, so be it. As far as catering goes, it is likely standard procedure for large touring bands to provide meals. If the meals are crap, I see no problem with the crew saying so. Management doesn’t have to do anything about it, but I feel no action is irresponsible.
Ringo Starr provided far more to the Beatles than most give credit. He was a nice, outgoing person, that got along with the people. The other Beatles often tended to be rather prickish.
I am curious what the unions say about this, or is Sir Paul employing scab labor.
Oh, and I do agree that most vegetarians are not this way. Of course, most do not have the power to regulate their beliefs like Sir Paul.
BULLSHIT! Picking out the fucking brown M&M’s is PAUL’S personal choice! Telling his WHOLE FUCKING CREW that they can’t have brown M&M’s is imposing his will! Over people that he has NO control over! Does he think he is some Lord? A King? What?
Actually, Alice, employing someone does not give you the right to mandate their personal eating habits. Any more than it gives you the right to tell me who I should vote for or where I should buy my clothes. It’s none of his damn business. Giving me a job does not give you rights to dictate any aspect of my personal life.
He’s not dictating personal life - he’s dictating behaviour while at work.
My employer doesn’t allow me to drink on the job, or wear assless pants to the office. Doesn’t mean I can’t do those things on my own time.
Paul’s mandate is no different. No meat on the job. The employees are free to go home and slaughter and eat a whole cow if they like.
Well, the no brown M&Ms actually have a really neat twist to it:
(sorry, I love this one) Van Halen and No Brown M&Ms.
Heh.
Okay, end highjack. It’s Paul’s show, he’s footing the bill, he makes the rules. The no leather clause though, is rather anal, and I think he’s taking it too far there. if6was9, I don’t know about meat, but I DEFINITELY think you need to cut the caffeine out of your diet for a while, mmmkay?
God, I hate not being able to edit posts and then wanting to go back and add more.
Alice, Paul does NOT have a right to tell me what I can and cannot eat for lunch. Lunch is my personal time. I am off the clock. He is not paying me to go down to my favorite taqueria. Even if I eat it at my desk, it is MY time. Not his.
It IS! What part of TOO FAR don’t you understand? He has a responsibility to his “company” to provide his service in the best way possible. That MIGHT include the actions of his crew. They might have to look professional… as far as that might translate to a ROCK tour… But… eating meat is NOT a bad thing. Not to the VAST majority of humans! This is simply a case of a militant vegan using his “power” to impose his will on his underlings. Another case of THE MAN, keeping us down!
K. You’re all right. I’m wrong. Yes sir Mr. McCartney! Anything you say sir! Look at all the great songs you’ve given us. How could I have ever thought that my personal choices wouldn’t agree with yours… I’m so sorry I thought I had a voice…
psssst… Alice. I note you rather selectively neglected my other post. The one in which I said he has no right to tell his employees what they can eat while they’re off the clock? No matter WHERE they’re eating it? Rather the law, y’know.
