When we had the Friday fest last time at Wild Goose, it was much much much too smokey at that time of night for my taste. It’s probably fine for earlier in the evening, but I had to leave after about an hour on Friday night because of smoke.
What was your guy’s second choice? Holiday Club or Lottie’s?
Hmm…probably Holiday Club for me.
Holiday Club’s package wasn’t as good of a deal, right - it was $30 and just for beer and wine or sumfin like that? If Black Rock does fall through, maybe we can just reserve the Holiday Club room if folks think the package is too steep, and ask folks to kick in a few bucks to reimburse whoever puts the money up.
No matter where we end up, it’ll all work out and everyone will have a great time.
I’m sure you’re right, porcupine. I’m just bummed that a place with unanimous approval (well, without Hamlet’s, but he doesn’t count) is now likely out of the running.
I am there for whichever place we go to. I’m delivering girl scout cookies tonight and am planning on hitting Black Rock after to see what its like.
I could wait until the people who are looking at the place show up and pretend to be from the Health Dept.
Wherever we end up, you can add SuaSponte and me to the list.

I’m not 100% sure yet, but I’m definitely interested in another ChiDope. It always depends on the money factor. I should know for sure in a couple of weeks whether I can afford to attend or not.
How about Black Rock for our Friday night hang-out if we can’t get it for Saturday (sans the private room, of course)? All we need is a sign that says “Cecil Adams Family Reunion” and the newcomers can find us. That’s all I did for the “Drunken Debauchery in a Beer Garden” fest of a couple years ago and it worked out just fine.
I’m still in and I am, even now, attempting to convince one of my sisters to come along.
Just let me know where and when, and I’ll be there.
I’m in!
I haven’t even finished reading this thread yet, but I’m in!
I’ll be there for the bar. It may have been said and I missed it but-- the 25 dollars is at the door? Or do you all have to leave a deposit or something? How does that work?
I’d also be happy with some more info on the dinner. I’m bringing Zoltarb– he’s my son-- with me. He can’t go to the bar but he’d love to meet as many of you all as possible over dinner. Are you going to start a different Friday thread?
::wanders in, arms behind back, whistling, hoping no-one noticed who stole the sign last time::
Considering you were getting everyone to sign it, I don’t think you were acting with too much stealth.

Don’t count me in just yet. I haven’t decided 100% one way or the other, and I probably won’t until the day before the event. I’ll be staying with a friend, so I don’t need to worry about getting a hotel reservation.
The $25 thing is on hold – it looks unlikely that we’ll be able to get the bar that offered that deal. If it did happen, though, we’d have the bar collect it.
As far as Friday’s concerned, I don’t know that there are any firm plans in place (the dinner jarbaby suggested at the Wild Goose was on Saturday, before the bar event, but maybe that could be changed?). I was thinking, though, that for people bringing their kids (though your son isn’t exactly a kid, is he, biggirl?) or Dopers who’d rather not/can’t do a bar event two nights in a row, I’d be happy to host a Friday afternoon-evening barbecue at my home that’s kid-friendly. If anyone’s interested, let me know.
(aside to jarbaby – don’t know if you’d found out yet, but the Lincoln Square May Fest is at the end of May this year, sadly)
Also:
If you’d like to be on the cell-phone list, please e-mail me your board name, real first name, and phone number.
If any new threads are spawned that are at all related to chidope, please post them here. I don’t always keep up with MPSIMS.
The Wild Goose is probably best for just an afternoon or dinner gathering, since they DO start carding after 8:00. If you want to go, email me at jarabyj@yahoo.com and I’ll get a tentative number to the manager.
My husband and I are regulars there, so reserving a section for dinner will be no problem.
Gundy: bummer about Mayfest.

I do not understand this “dopers who’d rather not do a bar event two nights in a row” concept.
