$1250 for a STROLLER? Good lord, why not just buy the kid his own private automobile and be done with it? Man, when I think what I had to put up with in the way of so-called strollers with my kids back in the dark ages*…grumble grumble…* You young parents today don’t know how good you’ve got it!
Yeah, don’t get me started on that rant. I can carry on for a looong time on that one.
Sorry about the food poisoning, FCM! That sounds miserable – why on earth didn’t you call in sick? Especially since the meeting was completely useless and your teensy contribution isn’t till tomorrow. Or did you not know which day you’re expected to present? That wouldn’t surprise me at all. Folks who set up meetings that long and pointless seldom do the courteous thing of informing people when their portions are due so that they can actually get some work done in the meantime.
Papa Tigs finally made it home. Alas, the instant he got off the Beltway, they opened one lane bypassing the overturned truck or whatever that was blocking the exit to 50. Unfortunately, the escape route he chose was also chosen by most of the other people headed in his direction, so it was an instant parking lot. So he spent 35 minutes sitting there hearing about how if he hadn’t gotten off the Beltway, he’d be home by then.
I’m also mad at him – last night was the Staff Appreciation dinner at the hospital, and he got the date mixed up and didn’t sign us up for it. And guess who the surprise guest entertainment was?
Bruce Springsteen!
Now, I’m not that big a Springsteen fan, but nevertheless, it sure would have been nice to see him live. For free. If for no other reason than my sister, who is a huge Springsteen fan and has paid megabucks to go see him, would absolutely die of envy. But did I get the chance? No, because Papa Tigs got the date mixed up.…grumble grumble…
VWie is home. That is all…
I am finally caught up on my lack of sleep nightmare of a weekend. On Monday I fell asleep midway through How I Met Your Mother
I fell asleep on the couch last night at 7.30. Woke up at 9.00 to take myself off to bed. Shut Libby the crazy kitty out of the bedroom at 10.00. Woke up at 2.00 to switch TV off and let Libby the crazy kitty back in. Woke up at 5.45 with my alarm and felt supremely rested. Libby the crazy kitty had snuggled under the covers and was a purring picture of contentment.
I have to undergo some mandatory California EEO/harassment training tomorrow  I must be super nice to all my employees even the idiots who drive me insaneI must be super nice to all my employees even the idiots who drive me insaneI must be super nice to all my employees even the idiots who drive me insane
I was driven around in a $20 stroller until I was four.
Obviously not from the very beginning, since you can’t put a newborn in an umbrella stroller, but still.
Yes. Another reason to be hesitant. I’m thinking about duct-taping the handles or something if we should happen to get one. Although there are hundreds of that type in our area, which is a)yuppieville and b)full of babies. So maybe it’s not as likely that it would be stolen from here as it would in a much poorer area.
If I could find one with height-adjustable handles that flip, a really lightweight frame, and suitable for newborns and bigger kids, for less than the price of a Bugaboo, I’d run after it. Sadly, so far I haven’t. Maybe I’ll just sling the kid for the first eight months and then get an umbrella stroller.
Dinner has been et, and we’re getting ready for bed.
At lunch, they were talking about Bare Escentuals, so I thought I’d stop by and check it out. I wanted something light to even out my skin tone. I got what looked like nice, subtle make up in the store. I get home, look in the mirror and no. Just, no. It looks like a mask. Then I took a picture and hello, Grandma! I’m not kidding, I look just like Grandma did 25 years ago. Except that I still have my front teeth.
I guess I’ll have to take it back this weekend.
Welcome home, VWife.
Whenever I get make up put on me, I always look like a clown. I’ve had Estee Lauder, Clinique and Mac “makeovers”–doesn’t matter. It looks like crap.
I am ready for bed and it’s 9pm. This is what comes of no Daily Show–I turn even more into a senior citizen. Augh.
I had a Clinique makeover a few years ago that was wonderful; it looked totally natural and I ended up actually buying most of it, and have worn nothing but Clinique since. Since then, I’ve found a Clinique foundation that’s more like a tinted moisturizer – doesn’t feel like makeup, but definitely evens out the skin tones. I’m still trying to figure out how that Bare Escentuals can do it, since from what I’ve seen it’s all powder – at my age, powder of any kind just collects in my pores and makes me look 20 years older. I’ve even switched to a cream blush for just that reason.
Of course, all that is predicated on the fact that I wear makeup about once a month. Although if I were working in an office again, I’d have to wear it every day – unlike my daughter, I no longer have flawless skin that needs nothing but a touch of blush and maybe some eyeshadow. Concealer is my friend.
I really, really should be working. And I really, really don’t want to. I just want to crawl in bed and get another 12 hours of sleep. I have got to set up a doctor’s appointment to find out why I’m so tired all the time. This is getting ridiculous.
I wear makeup almost every day, unless it’s a day I’m not going to leave the house. I went through a makeup crazy back in college - I even took classes, which I’m kind of grateful for now because it really did help. For subtle makeup I always turn to Bobbi Brown or Shu Uemura. I stick with MAC for powder though - they have a sheer formula that evens out my skintone without being cakey at all. But I’ve found that what looks natural on you really depends on your individual skin type - I went through a few before I settled on MAC. Although Guerlain makes a nice powder as well - but it’s a bit pricey.
My favorite Disney movie is Robin Hood. Non-Disney would be … maybe An American Tale. Or Spirited Away, if we can pick foreign films.
Hi all!
I went to bed but I lay there thinking about all the things that I need to do. So I got back up. Now I’m sitting here avoiding doing them.
I mean, who really wants to write a letter to the credit bureaus disputing the info on your credit report. YUCK.
I think that I’ve worn makeup about 5 times in my life. I like the Burt’s Bees natural cosmetics, though. I’m thinking about avoiding working by looking for bits of racy clothing on ebay.
Welcome home, VWife, don’t think we’ve met yet, but nice to meet you and hope you’ll be dancing with the stars soon!
Oh yes, An American Tale! I adore that movie! I need to see it again. The music may be sappy, but it’s such a lovely sappy!
I have a new word pet peeve. The word “subsidiary” is NOT pronounced “subsiderary.” That makes me want to start singing, “It’s a long way to Tipperary, the subsiderary.” Aargh! Why can’t people learn to pronounce words correctly? It’s not that freaking hard!
 Evenin’ all. Well, I guess it’s actuallly night and most of you are sleeping the night away, but greetings anyway.
I’m glad to see the VWife is home. Hopefully, she won’t be ornery.
I picked MIL up from hospital today and took her home. On the way home, I stopped at a drive through and bought us lunch. We drove to her house, ate, and then I drove to the pharmacy to pick up her pain meds and some iron supplements. She lost quite a bit of blood during the surgery.
Anywho, the pharmacy was sloooooooow, so I spent about an hour people watching. When I got back to MIL’s, she was sleeping, so I let her sleep until she woke up. Once she was awake, I went over the meds with her. I offered to get her something to eat or drink, but she didn’t want anything.
We chatted for awhile longer, then she sent me home. I was surprised, but kind of glad. I’m sure she was ready for some peace and quiet, along with time to herself. A nurse will be coming by once a day to drain her and the drains should come out NLT Monday, but hopefully, by Friday.
I’m sorry to hear about the food disagreement, FCM. I hope you’re feeling better, and that tomorrow’s meeting isn’t as bad as today’s.
I’m not really looking forward to the boss being back next week. She kind of irritated me yesterday with an e-mail. Today, she gave a co-worker a bit of a rough time; well, rough enough that said co-worker was in tears.
The boss was irritated because the co-worker wasn’t “thinking outside the box”. She was also irritated because we had missed something on a WTB spreadsheet. The numbers looked low, but we thought everything was accounted for. What we DIDN’T know was that there were formulas way, way off in columns that couldn’t be seen. We didn’t build the damn sheets, so we didn’t know about them. But, because we didn’t go looking for something we DIDN’T KNOW ABOUT, we weren’t paying attention to detail.
Sigh, whatever. From now on, I’ll make sure that I don’t make that mistake again. I have issues with not being included in the “build” of a spreadsheet or database, but being expected to know every nuance of it. Ugh.
I think I’m gonna watch a bit of television.
Smooches and hugs to all.
Oh oh, favorite Disney movie is -so- hard to choose! I think I have to go with Lady and the Tramp, with Peter Pan a close second (hard to beat that croc searching for the rest of Capt. Hook!)
Non-Disney is probably Finding Nemo, although Happy Feet is also good.
I “napped” until 10:30 this evening, so now am wide awake, naturally.
I’m toddling back to bed soon, though–this is going to mess up my good record this week of getting in to work early. GAH!
Are we -sure- it isn’t Friday yet?!
Morning all! I’m so glad it’s Thursday 'cos that means it’s nearly the weekend! We went out for beerverages yesterday night, and now it’s November, the search is on for Cromwell’s Hat - it’s a seasonal brew so it’s only available for two months but it’s well worth seeking out. Except for the fact that it’s 6% strength so it’s a bit of a head-trasher.
Did I mention that I feel somewhat trashed today?
Hooray for me! Tonight I’m going to see White Christmas ! A friend of mine is an annual subscriber and one of their normal group can’t go so I’m in!!!
Other than that, I feel like I could go either way. I didn’t sleep very well last night and feel like it wouldn’t take much for me to turn super grumpy super quickly. Oh well, we’ll just see what happens.
Aw, come on now. I bet you look fine…it seriously can’t be as bad as you’re making it out to be.
Yeah, rigs, cite!
What’s with all the grumpiness today? Is it because y’all missed me yesterday?
Yeah, I thought that wasn’t it…
Really I’ve got not good excuse except I had a case of dontwannas… and nothing interesting to report. The latter of which holds for today as well. But it’s Thursday – which means tomorrow is the weekend. Woo and Hoo!!
I have no idea which movies are or aren’t Disney, anyway… :o is “Monsters, inc.” a Disney pic? How about “Chicken Little”? If one is and one isn’t, those are my answers, in whichever order applies…
Yeah, Rigs… cite! Several, in fact – one for each makeover as well as one au naturel
Terribly late. Have to rush off to ACLS. (Google it, if needed)
No pics now-and I don’t have any of post makeovers in the past. I do have the makeover video from Estee Lauder (somewhere) that was done before my wedding–20 years ago. The makeup guy forgot to turn on the sound, so I have lots of footage of him holding up various products and no idea what he did with them…
More later, if have time.
Yay for VWife and MIL bein’ home!
I’d have to say 101 Dalmations and Shrek.
Chili’s was good last night, errrr… early yesterday evening, since we went at five o’clock. They had this special thingy, a half rack of baby back ribs (I had the honey-chipotle ribs, YUM!!!), two sides (I had loaded smashed N.O.T. and broccoli) and a dessert (I had the brownie thingy, a brownie square with walnuts and coconut, ice cream, drizzled with hot fudge and caramel sauce and chopped walnuts on top) for $12.99. We were both just stuffed when we left. I had iced tea and ol’ y’all know who had him a couple beerverages just cause he could. Afterwards we went back to his place (did I mention I went over there to wait on him) where we, well, ummmm… for a bit, then I got all work gussied (light blue pocket t and black jeans with a dark blue flannel overshirt cause it’s gettin’ cooler here) and left from his place to go to work. Thus, ACBG’s first ever Chili’s experience was a good one. Oh and we had those southwestern eggrolls as an appetizer.
Work was easy last night. Stuff worked all night long just like it was supposed too. I considered building a shrine cause that is along the lines of a miracle.
Hope all you sick ones are feelin’ better.
Off to beddy bye!
