I’m coming out of the toy closet, people. I love action figures and I buy and display them proudly, and I’m not ashamed of it. Last night I had some people over to my place and some guy made a crack about my hobby and I stood my fucking ground. I am not ashamed of being a toy geek, and I am not going to act like it’s something I should hide. Luckily, it’s recently become somewhat “hip” for twenty-somethings like myself to take up this hobby, and there are even a couple of magazines out (I might as well go ahead and subscribe to ToyFare now, since I buy the damn thing every month anyway).
Are any of you guys out there toy geeks as well? Come on, let’s show the world that our collections are not any different from their idiotic hobbies!!!

Exactly what kind of toys? I fancy myself a bit of a “vintage” toy geek, as I’m trying to collect toys from my youth. I’m definately not ashamed. Anyone who pokes fun about it doesn’t get to play with my stuff

Well I have nearly the entire JLA (except for Wonder Woman who I can’t seem to get) if that makes you feel better. They live on my bookshelves peeking out from in between some of my fave works. Protecting my journals if you will.

It makes all the difference in the world. I have all kinds of toys around my computer here in the classroom [I home school my son] so that while things load, I can play with my silver slinky, my magnets, miniature Star Wars critters, or blow bubbles.

Well, I change their poses around from time to time and make 'em look like their fighting one another…so I guess that MIGHT qualify as playing…but when you get down to it, is it anymore bizarre than playing “The Sims”? You’re still just directing the lives of fictitious characers…but I’m not like make sounds and talking for them. I haven’t done that since I was a kid…I promise!!! Okay, maybe once or twice, but I was stoned…
