I considered putting this on the Politics board, but we don’t know who the clients are yet. Anyway, this story could get quite interesting. They seemed to specialize in “The Girlfriend Experience,” FWIW.
“Elected officials” could get interesting.
Boston as well. This should indeed be interesting.
Chinese descent?
Two of the three are identified as being born in Korea, and the birthplace of the third is not identified.
Do you have some separate information that these three are of Chinese descent, or are you saying they are just pawns/stooges and some others of Chines descent are actually running the show.
It sounds to me like it was run by the Soup Nazi!
I can imagine somebody showing up and going, “Thanks, but I’m good on the mouthwash. I do a pretty good job with the brushing, and I had some gum before I got here.” and getting the terse reply
“No sex for you!”
Some of their distant ancestors probably lived in China. Also Africa.
@nearwildheaven: And why does the descent of the operators, whatever it is, merit being in the title? If they were of British descent, would you have mentioned that in the topic title?
Did you mean to address this to the OP, @nearwildheaven?
Yes, of course. Sorry. I was just jumping off your post.
ETA: edited to clarify that.
What do these woke antiracists have to say about the fact that every crime ever committed was by somebody of African descent?
ISWYDT
(yes, nannybot, that’s a complete sentence)
Somebody just posted this clip in the other thread…
My first reaction when I read the story is what it has been now for all my adult life - why o’ why do we expend so much time, money and resources investigating, arresting, and prosecuting consenting adults for engaging in non-violent, consensual sexual behavior behind close doors?
I’m all for shutting down real sexual trafficking operations, which are modern day slavery markets. However, despite what law enforcement and some elected officials would lead us to believe (IMHO), a lot of plain ol’ prostitution operations are intentionally mischaracterized as trafficking in press releases. If you research the final judicial outcomes, most end up having been adjudicated as prostitution cases and not trafficking.
The first link I saw said they were Chinese, and there was speculation that they might be spies. Even if they’re Korean, they STILL might be; who knows?
I hadn’t meant to be prejudicial or offend anyone by that.
p.s. If anyone’s offended enough to want this thread shut down, feel free to do that. Sorry.
What link was that?
@nearwildheaven “The Chinese” are the boogeyman flavor of the year. I’m not saying it’s exactly unwarranted mind you, but let’s fight ignorance and not jump to the conclusion that any Asian name is “Chinese”. And the linked article doesn’t have anything about Chinese descent. So, to avoid anyone questioning your title motives, maybe keep it to the linked story, m’kay?
From the linked article: Han Lee, of Cambridge, Mass.; James Lee, of Torrance, Calif.; and Junmyung Lee, of Dedham, Mass.
Mainland Chinese pinyin romanization would be “Li” and not “Lee”. That said, other Chinese cultures such as Taiwan and Hong Kong also uses “Lee” romanization. “Lee” or variations thereof with the same Chinese historic character (李) is the second most common family name in Korea, and here’s more than you want to know about it in China and diffusion throughout Asia.
“Junmyung” is very obviously a Korean related name and certainly not something that would come from Mainland Chinese, Taiwan, HK or Singapore romanizations.
I’m guessing that the OP was edited to remove reference to Chinese? I’m seeing a lot of reaction to that, but not the reference itself.
It used to be in the title. The title of the thread has apparently been edited.
I think it would have been useful to include a note saying that, as otherwise some of the posts (including my earlier one) make no sense. But thanks to whoever edited the title.
ETA @nearwildheaven: if there was something in the stories to indicate that the brothel owners were spies, it would have been useful to include that. If you’re saying they might have been spies just because their ancestors, or they themselves, were from somewhere in Asia – let me just say that that’s not a great look. If the stories you read thought they were spies only for that reason – personally, I’d stop reading those sites.
By mods, or by hackers of Chinese descent?
(Ok I’ll stop now.)
Hmm, anybody checked in on Eliot Spitzer recently?
