High heel sports shoes, would you?

For the women: would you wear high heel sports type shoes if they were comfortable and allowed you to get stuff off that shelf?

For the men: would you wear high heel sports type shoes if they gave you enough height to be better/competitive in basketball while still giving you support? Or let you reach a shelf?

(Most are fake… but it’s the idea behind the question).

I’m 5’7" so can reach most of my cupboards but there are 2 (above the refrigerator) that I can’t and another that I can just barely reach stuff because it’s deep. I would wear them.

Plus… they go well with sweats which are my pants of choice (can’t have anything constricting my left side due to a yucky kidney).

Unless the sole is substantially thicker, it’s no different than standing on your toes.

I saw a picture of Rihanna wearing a pair of those and laughed my ass off. In my world gym shoes are for the gym and nowhere else so I don’t need them to be stylish in order to double as dress shoes.

That’s right, a high heel isn’t enough. They’d have to be platforms, too.

Me, I’m klutzy enough in flats. That’s why the upper shelves in my kitchen cabinets are either empty or home to things I only use once or twice a year.

No. Sneaker-stilettos are a dumb idea. They aren’t functional as sneakers (no stability, traction, or comfort. Those would be beyond useless for anything athletic). Also they’re ugly so they lose the aesthetic utility of stilettos.

I have absolutely no use for that combination in footwear.

I wear nothing but zero-drop shoes. I have read way too many studies showing the many negative effects on the body of elevating the heels.
Wearing high-heel shoes is stupid enough in daily life, but when doing SPORTS? the high heel prevents you from using your body the way it is designed to be used. Your performance will be impaired and there is a good chance you will end up injured.

They’re not meant for sports, they’re meant for style. I have a friend that owns something like this. I’m sure she wouldn’t wear them to something super dressed up, it’s more of a “I sooo love Adidas\Nike\etc, I bought these heels that have the Adidias pattern on them” thing. I think she also owns a lot of shoes, so picked up a pair just for the novelty of it big deal, it was just another pair of shoes.

the OP talked about playing basketball in them.

I missed that, but that’s still not what they’re for. Like you said, it wouldn’t be any different than playing basketball in regular heels.
I may be wrong, but it’s my understanding that these are, more or less, regular heels decked out to look like a certain brand’s typical shoe. So, make them look sporty, use basketball shoe material on the outside, then slap a swoosh or stripes on them.

Some of them do appear to have rubber on the bottom, but I still don’t think you’d want to attempt any kind of sports in them. OTOH, I’m sometimes amazed at what people can do in heels, so what do I know?

Maybe I would if I still had a wig hat and it was 1964.

Yikes. If you google, there’s a YouTube video out there about what happens when a woman tries to deadlift in stiletto heels. I will not look because I was unsuccessful the first time in completely scrubbing that image from my mind.

So no, they’re useless as sports shoes, and pointless as dress shoes. If I’m wearing dressy shoes, they will be dressy shoes, since that is pretty much the point.

No. I don’t like the look and there is no way they are of equal function. I can reach things okay, being average height, and if I can’t I use a step stool.

I do own some heels for special occasions but I have no need or desire to be taller in my daily life.
