Sometimes on TV I see women wearing high heels (usually plain black pumps) with bright red soles. Anyone know what brand these are?
Going by my memory from a Suze Orman Can I Afford It, I believe it’s Christian Louboutin.
I’ve seen Oprah wearing them so my guess is they’re not from payless.
Yep, Christian Louboutin.
Happy shopping!
Wow, expensive! No other companies are making black heels with red soles though?
I believe he has the idea trademarked. Or something.
Anyone own some?
Mrs. Ducati.
I have a pair of extremely high heel peep-toe black platform pumps with red soles by Oh Dear. They most assuredly did not cost over US$70. So the idea isn’t limited to high-end shoes, and is apparently not trademarked or anything.
The shoes are very cruel, but boy are they hot.
That’s very interesting. I just went ahead and read his Wiki page.
I didn’t really know you can trademark something like that.
Trope,

raises hand meekly, since this is the Dope
Hehe. Are they comfy… or just gorgeous?
I fell in love with them the moment I saw some celeb wearing them, but they are definitely an uber trendy shoe. They aren’t that timeless and classic gorgeous, but I love them with my entire heart. I literally keep them on my bedside table so I can admire them :p. The shoes. And surprisingly, they are VERY comfortable, particularly considering how freakishly high the heel is (5 inches). I can wear them for hours with zero problems.
OMIGOD. They ARE gorgeous. Good for you, DB!
I have a pair of plain black closed toe and a tannish snake skin pair. Ridiculously priced, but very comfortable given the 4 1/2 inch heels. The black ones have also held up well. Diosa, have you had to get yours resoled yet?
There are cheaper sort of knock offs. Paris Hilton makes some with pink soles and they’re around 100 a pair.
Grrrrr now I want to go shoe shopping. Meh, the kids don’t really need to go to college.
Wow! I sooooo hope my 19YO doesn’t see this thread, or she will try to ruin next year’s entire Christmas budget with one gift request! (or, decide she doesn’t really need all that money for tuition, kind of along the lines of BBJ’s reasoning!)
Seriously, I can’t think of much that would convince me to pay that much for a pair of shoes (unless they were seriously comfortable shoes I’d get a lot of wear out of; I would not get a lot of wear out of anything with a 5" heel), but those are awesome.
I don’t wear mine all that frequently, since it’s not like those epic whore shoes really have a place in my day to day business transactions :D. I wear them out to parties and clubs, though. The red has definitely rubbed off on the. . . I guess where the ball of my foot is on the shoe, but the sole itself is still fine. I wonder if Louboutin is anything like Louis Vuitton-- I have a LV wallet and they will clean it and fix it up for free if its within a certain time frame.
Then again, I’ve heard Louboutin is generally pretty cheap (the company, not the product), so I doubt they do that.
Tell her to go to college and not get knocked up, so she can buy her own damned $1500 shoes someday. Incentive, that’s what that is! :p:D
I have a gorgeous pair, and immediately got them re-soled (in red) when I bought them. I’m often complimented on them. I got them at half-price, and they were still the most expensive shoes I’ve ever purchased.
There’s quite a cottage industry in resoling them. Good cobblers will do it with a red Vibram sole and not even cover up the signature/stamp. Last time I got it done that way it was about $45. In larger cities near the fancy schmancy malls/shopping centers you can often find a shoe repair place that specializes in resoling them for about $150.
