High school/college mascots that should be

Ambivalid mentioned in another thread that he is in Flint, MI. I thought “Hmm, if there is not a high school or college there known as the Flint Firebugs, there should be”. Other mascots that should be:

Amarillo (TX) Submarines Amarillo = yellow in Spanish
Carmel (CA) Apples
Seal Beach (CA) Clubbers
Sun City (AZ) Carcinomas
Gobblers Knob (Various) Polishers
Intercourse (PA) Abstainers - Go sex 'stains!
Butts County (GA) Crackers
Helen (GA) Backs
More? Other countries/languages are fair game, but please provide translation.

No it should be ’ Helen Wheels’
Hope ‘lessnesses’
Little Rock ‘stoners’

You just can’t beat the real life Butte County High School Pirates
Or the Arkansas School for the Deaf Leopards.

There’s a small town near me named Lyons. Their school mascot is (big surprise) the Lions.

I think they should have a double mascot and their team should be called the Tigers and
Bears.

Cheerleaders: “Lyons Tigers and Bears!”
Crowd: “Oh My!”

Saline (MI) Solutions

The Santa Barbara Anns

Alexander the Greats
Blue-eye Shades
Yes Blue-eye is a real town

The Walla Walla Bing Bangs.

The Kokomo Joes

Bulldogs were my high schools mascot. We tried (not very hard) to get it changed to the Balrogs, and change the colors to red and black. I still think the Folsom High School Balrogs would be cool.

I’d go with the Folsom Prisoners. The team color, of course, would be blue.

University of California (Santa Cruz) Banana Slugs … really really …

As I remember, one of the Pine Ridge schools wanted to name their team the Fighting Whities … I think that got vetoed by the administration …

I once lived near a Mt. Zion church. Which had an attached school. The Zion Lions of course.

For the plethora of schools using Trojans as the mascot, the girls’ teams should be the Diaphragms.

Cleveland Rocks
Mars (PA) Martians
Royal Oak (MI) Acorns

Marin (CA) Ers.
Redwood City (CA) Termites.
Homestead (FL) Ers.
Citrus (CA or FL) Cankers.
Whittier (CA) Than Thous.
Cedar City (UT) Chests.

The Green River (UT) Killers

I would go with the Flint Stones.

Should be Carmel (IN) Apples to get the correct pronunciation of “Carmel”: car-MEL by the sea, CAR-mel by the corn.

CAR-mel on the corn is pretty good too. Popcorn that is.

Teton (ID) Bras
Buck (various) Teeth
Cumming (GA) Buckets
Chicken (AK) Tenders
Coward (SC) Yellowbellies
Smartt (TN) Spellars
Booger Hole (WV) Pickers

Why, yes, this does amuse me!
