I live in northern New Jersey and am finally ready to get high speed internet at home. Any recommendations on who provides the best service? How about the cheapest? I know that Cablevision is now offering Optimum Online for nothing down and $39.99 a month with a free cable modem. Is this a good deal?
Very!! Opt is an extreamly fast provider and it’s users rarely have problems. Consider yourself lucky, as I live in one of the states that can get Opt, yet can’t. >.<
Anyway, you may want to, if for some odd reason you don’t want insanely good servace and speed for a low price, check dslreports.com. They have tools there to help you find whatelse is in your area, and they usualy have several reports on servace, so you may want to read them first.
Optonline is by far and away the way to go on LI if you can. I have DSL and it’s good but nowhere the speed of optonline. The reason I stay w/ DSL is
1 - they provide free dialup backup - new customers have to pay for this though
2 - they are $5/month cheaper - for new customers they are $10/month more expensive though.
If they take away 1 and 2 (maybe just 1 or 2) I would switch tomorrow.
