I have to stand up for Alien 3 as well. Alien: Resurrection, however, was just a bad piece of fan fiction that was read by the producers and immediately tossed into the reject basket.
That Chronos is hallucinating. Just one novel indeed, the point of the arc didn’t even become apparent until the second book. I think Chronos is too over partial to happily ever afters and a whimsical world where messiahs are actual methods to salvation.
Still, I wonder, what would have happened to Leto II and his Golden Path? What beheld humanity freed from being pidgeon holed to putting the entire race’s continued existence in one basket? It’s a real shame Herbert decided to move on to other books, other stories, and left the universe of Dune for good.
The 16th episode of the Prisoner was such a powerful ending to the saga of Number 6 that I’m very grateful that they didn’t film some stupid, psychodelic, hippy love-in 17th episode that makes no sense.
Yup, I’m glad.
Be seeing you.
A bit more esoteric, but…
Musicologists are still at a loss to explain:
[ul][li]Why Beethoven only wrote symphonies with odd numbers.[/li][li]Why Mozart began writing symphonies at #25 or piano concerti at #20.[/li][li]Tchaikovsky’s first three symphonies.[/li][li]Ravel’s Bolero[/li][/ul]
Okay, I know this TV show never happened and all, but if it had, what would have been so bad about it? And why would I have never heard of it?
.
Now, now, that 17th episode conclusive proved that The Village was, in fact, Portmeirion, and Number 6 was just on a bad ‘Mystery Tour’. We know this because the midget Butler simply drove a semi-truck (the trailer being the jail room) with the Prisoner directly to downtown London (kinda directly contradicting the earlier episode when a hurricane hits the village, the Prisoner escapes, and ends up trying to locate the Village again with some RAF pilots on a island in the Atlantic/Mediterrian). Besides, didn’t everyone in Swinging 60s England have their own person orbit capable missile and wear a gorilla mask?
Hmmm, on review, you’re right; luckily, before this episode was filmed, Patrick McGoohan resigned
And there’s some crazy talk that he played The Punisher. You’d have to be insane to think Dolph could that one off!
What a perfect ending for Magnum P.I.. Higgins orders Magnum to wake up out of his coma, but he smiles, defiant as ever, turns around, and walks off into the heavens.
I also loved it when Clarice gunned down Lecter just after he rescued her from the pigs at the end of the book Hannibal.
And who can forget the most hilarious movie ever made, Caddyshack? That stands alone as the best single golf movie ever made.
I’d love to stop and play your little game and say something along the lines of…“I’m so glad I don’t live in a world where Greedo shot first”… but I’ve got to run out to the bookstore and pick up the latest Calvin and Hobbes compilation.
…While you’re out, Fornit, pick up the latest Van Halen CD, will you? I can’t wait to see what “Diamond” Dave and the boys have been up to.
Oh, and great name, Fornit…do I detect a Stephen King fan?
After the surprising cult success of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, people clamored for a follow-up. Fortunately, Richard O’Brien realized that such a phenomenon could never be repeated. Never. Especially without the leads. Never.
I have never messed up my coding. **Never.
Now, now, two novels. Under Pressure was a perfectly good story.
Oh, and I heard a rumor that Phil Spector wanted to get his hands on Let it Be. Lucky he got stopped before he messed it up.
I’m really glad EA Sports decided not to make any more hockey games after 1994. Really, how could they top NHL '95?
I’m also glad Sid Meier decided not to divest itself of the Railroad Tycoon franchise. Though I can’t understand why the new RT is being called “Railroad Tycoon III.”
Lord Ashtar
no one and i mean no like this he-man show oh boy did that suck
There is an Alien 3 which is very good and underappreciated. Good thing they ended it there though, I can’t imagine them making a fourth. It would probably be the worst sequel ever if they made one.
I’m still waiting for the Red Sox to play the 7th game in this year’s playoffs against the yankees.
Also, what a shame they pulled The Simpsons off the air a few years ago.
Cool! That’s the best news I’ve heard in a long time! When is it gong to be released? Aliens was such a great movie, I can’t wait to see a sequel! I’m dying to know what happens to Ripley and Newt after she fought so long and hard trying to save her! That was one of the coolest thing about Aliens, was that it didn’t wallow in being all “dark” and “edgy,” but was genuinely suspenseful throughout and made you care about what happened to the characters!
I’m still wondering if there are ever going to be DVD’s released for the Star Wars trilogy, though. I’d heard rumors that there were supposed to be more than three movies, but we haven’t heard a peep from Lucasfilm since Return of the Jedi, and that was weird enough. It seems like there’s missing footage. I mean, Leia crashes her speeder bike after that spectacular bike chase scene, and then it cuts over to Luke & the Emperor and the big space battle, but we never see what Leia and Han and the others were doing that whole time! Weird.
Maybe Lucas was too influenced by that whole avant-garde thing Spielberg was trying with Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Why was it only 15 minutes long? Sure, it was a great 15 minutes, but it seems like they should’ve shown what happened after Indy gets on the plane after escaping from that nightclub. Where was the “temple” mentioned in the title?
But I’m not complaining. As confusing as they may be, the movies should be left as they are; I’d hate for anybody to get the goofy idea that there should be “remakes” or “special editions!” Next thing you know, some idiot will come along trying to do a remake of Psycho!
Bill Murray was spot on to recognize that truly great comedies stand alone. That’s why there were never any sequels for either Meatballs or Caddyshack.
See, what pisses me off is that the first part of my statement is actually true.
Great moments in TV-
when David Lynch revealed that Leland killed his daughter Laura Palmer at the end of the one season of TWIN PEAKS.
when the person who suggested setting a HIGHLANDER cartoon on the Planet Zeist was greeted with derision & confusion because “who ever heard of such a place?”
when David Lynch decided “a quirky sitcom set in a small TV station? Nah- I’ll do a good TP prequel film- maybe a good sequel one also.”
Stargate was only ever a movie. There were plans to make a television series but lack of funding would have made it look REALLY campy.
Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand was really short and to the point. I finished it in a couple of hours.
