One of the first things you learn on the SDMB is that threads often take some very strange turns. For example, I am taking part in a thread in GQ right now that started out as a question about air conditioners, but has turned into a lesson on how to pronounce the Irish word craic. I love this board!
What has been your favorite/strangest/most annoying hijack?
My Gambasia affini have babies!
I currently hold the record for most irrelevant hijack. (or ‘thread tangent’ as the awarder called it)
As a registered, certified Derailer, IMHO, Monty Python hijacks are the most effective, versatile, and enjoyable hijacks.
Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam…
My favourite hijack remains my own (although at the time, I didn’t intend for it to be one, I was just having a bit of fun. Didn’t think, as a newbie then, it’d be noticed much.) The Q and X Union. We represent the underused letters of the alphabet Note: Really old thread. Do not bump.
The ‘a’ thread was a good hijack that went crazy (the OP did not intend for what happened to happen I think he was just asking a question. It turned into [correct me if I am wrong] the SDMB thread with the most replies)
Anyone got a link to it? (no fear of bumping it as it was closed)
Not so fast with the Kudos, Island Boy! Try this on for size. (note post #18)
What I find funny is, guys like you and me don’t wake up in the morning with a plan hatched to hijack. It just happens. I do it irl convs, too. You?
Are Kudos™ available on the Isle of Mannly Guys?
Here…

Yep. We can be talking about England’s best cricket innings and then a word triggers a memory, and suddenly I’m talking about sailing ships.
P.S. Now that I’ve seen Jacob’s Ladder (the film, a few days ago), I understand exactly how irrelevant my hijack was.
[bolding mine]
:dubious:
Sounds like a non sequitur to me!
What forum seems to lend itself most easiestly (
what the…?) to hijacks?
Ah they’re 1920’s style “Death Rays.”

Poor Dogface and his triple post. Perhaps the most famous SDMB hijack of all. It’s still affecting this board!
Banned after 3470 posts?! (I am sure the story behind that is as old as the twenteen-ninties style reth days, easiyiestilyly)
