Hillary: Obama's losing support with "hard-working Americans, white Americans"

Live and learn. Apparently we can’t believe our lying eyes. But if could, I’d call HUGE bull-crap on this one.

Heck…I highly doubt that Mexico has a lower percentage of “whites” that does the Dom Rep…which I need not remind anyone has a very porous border with Haiti. And yet…According to the CIA World Fact Book, the ethnic composition of the Dominican population is, 73% mixed race, 16% white and 11% black.

Lastly and for arguments sake, say that is a bogus poll altogether…well, then, fly down here and I’d be willing to bet that it’s cake to find at least 6% white Dominicans. Of course, my race-color-chart is obviously not half as sharply honed as many of yours.

Beyond that, some of you might still think they are not ‘white’ due to your antique (and scientifically, inexistent*) race laws…not that far off to me than the decrepit Evolution VS Creationism so-called ‘argument.’

*There’s no race but the human race traita as that’s saying. I also think that for the most part, we’re just going to keep on blending more and more…so all this crapola about white, black, latino, asian or whatever combination thereof will ultimately go the way of the dinosaurs.

Thanks, Monstro, that is it !

Obama’s done better with both white voters and black voters than any (partly) black candidate in Democratic history.

It’s Obama’s unprecedented success among white voters that’s created his great success with black voters. His black vote has grown as he’s proven his ability to get white votes. He didn’t, for example, get 90 % of the black vote in New York.

Al Sharpton never got as high a percentage of the black primary vote. Neither did Doug Wilder or Carol Mosley Braun. Clearly, Obama’s been posting record numbers because he’s good, not because he’s partly black.

Wee Bairn, it’s good that you’re in the amen corner with LP. You all can go to meetings together. (You know what meetings I’m talking about, right?)

Sure. It’s only because Obama’s running that black voters are supporting a liberal Democrat. They normally vote for conservative Republicans.

Idiot.

I’m a Barack Obama supporter. I’m also white. Does that make me not hard-working? Apparently to Hillary Clinton, it does. She seems to think that because I’m an eingineer and not a coal miner or an auto worker, I don’t count as ‘hard-working Americans.’ No, I’m an egg-head, and according to Clinton’s campaign, I’m not good enough.

Fuck her and the horse she rode in on.

I think that’s been her mindset for a very long time.

Because if McCain wins, she can run again in 4 years. If Obama is President, she can’t run again for eight years.

I suspect that if you scratch Hillary, you’ll find her as elitist as any Ivy League educated wealthy attorney, raised in a middle class household. I’m as much an overeducated white middle class liberal as anyone - and even I can recognize the patronizing attitudes of people like me (and Hillary) who know what’s best for those “hard working Americans.”

However, she’s gotten so pat in her political pandering that she has become completely tone deaf to what she sounds like to anyone who isn’t who she is currently pandering to.

But who is she trying to convince - she’s trying to convince you and I that she can win and he can’t. But all she’s doing is offending us. Something Hillary has always been very good at - being tone deaf.

RedFury, I hear you and it does make us sound crazy. But the US is a crazy place.

The way I’ve always understood it, here people seem to be “race” first, “nationality” second. If you ask someone about “who they are” you seldom hear “American” come out first. Looking at Great Britain, for example, it seems like people feel they are British first, and something else second. Is that true in other places? I ask because it does seem that we are behind the whole world when it comes to this issue.

It saddened me to watch my sons grow up and watch them hit the developmental point where they first “saw” skin tone differences between themselves and their friends. It was odd, to have them one day mention that Beck and Nova were “black” when they hadn’t ever “noticed” it before. :frowning: Well, they didn’t say “black” of course- they noticed that Beck and Nova were “really dark brown,” Parth and Shivam were “medium brown,” and they themselves are “pretty light brown.”

PS- Please don’t have a cow if I used Great Britain incorrectly. I get so confused on what we’re calling the former empire this week…

But what country should we be using as the reference point of accuracy? Different socities have their own way of defining “whiteness”. This is what we would expect with a social construct. It may be a shocker to a Latino immigrant to come the US and suddenly learn that he’s not white (in the eyes of his American peers), but that’s the way it is here. What to do about it?

If race didn’t have undue importance in this society (and other societies), and certain values weren’t attached to being one thing versus another, these labels that we apply to ourselves would just be an issue of nomenclature. No one would care whether they were classified as black, white, mixed, or whatever. It wouldn’t have any practical or psychological importance, and so it wouldn’t really matter. I kinda think that’s what we should be striving for. An attitude that’s like “Okay, so I’m not white…what’s for dinner?”

EJsGirl, what’s wrong with your kids noticing differences in skin color? That’s just being observant. If they couldn’t see that their friends don’t all look like them, I’d worry about their vision, to be honest.

Well, it doesn’t help that when Americans ask “What are you?”, they never are satisfied with “American”. I’ve tried giving “American” as my first answer, but that’s never the right answer. “Americans” don’t look like me, you see. So to cut through the chase, I just give them the answer they really want. It’s usually racial.

Why should this make anyone sad? Does it make you sad when kids start to distinguish people by hair color or height? Noticing skin color is not inherently bad. I really wish people would get over this hang-up 'cuz it’s crazy.

And when you tell them you’re black, sometimes that’s not good enough either! A lot of people aren’t satisfied until you break out the family tree and dissect down to the xylem and phloem.

Nerd!

Well race is unfortunately a big deal, RedFury because we enslaved black people for a little while then discriminated against them too. It’s that history that makes us so uncomfortable and fucked up when it comes to race. It’s a vicious circle of racism and counter racism that got us to where we are today, and while the water in the pool isn’t circling like it used to, it is still moving. Whether it’s getting any slower, I can’t say.

By the way, who the fuck ever said Hillary was smart? As far as I’m concerned, I think we should go by the old Forrest Gump adage. Stupid is as stupid does. She’s been doing a lot of stupid shit lately. Seriously? Can someone mention something Hillary has done that has shown intelligence?
Also, Wee Bairn, you think Bill Clinton was such a good fucking President, huh? Seriously? He never won a majority of voters. Bill Clinton was always about himself and never about the party. Do you seriously think that Bill Clinton is going to have some kind of power that Barack Obama won’t? People take the POTUS pretty damn seriously around the world, regardless of how fucking dumb you are. Look at GWB. And the reason why it’s not okay to race-bait is because while Barack does win the majority of the AA vote, he doesn’t pander to them. If Hillary were running against Al Sharpton, or Jessie Jackson then it would be different. Because they also ran racial campaigns.

Hillary has been saying for so long, “He can’t win”
why? Because he doesn’t “Win working class votes”
why? “BECAUSE HE’S BLACK!”

the last line is never said, but you know she fucking wants to.

Hillary isn’t racist. I have no doubt in my mind. What she is is a fucking horrible pessimistic, underestimating bitch. She is using the threat of white, racist voters against Barack Obama. She’s saying, “He can’t win because none of these people who vote for me will vote for a black guy” “America isn’t better than that.”

I probably phrased it poorly, as usual. What I meant was seeing them go from seeing no differences between people, I guess. It was like, “Why is Nova different?” to which I replied “She isn’t,” and then tried to explain shades of skin color depending on ancestry, etc.

It’s not a hang-up, but it is a big part of the country we live in. Personally, I could care less what you look like, but I care one hell of a lot about who you are. I hope that skin color continues to be no big deal for them- that’s what we think and try to model for them.

Um. I think she was trying to say…exactly what she said.

Inartful when the fact of majority of white vote in a given area is noted; not inartful when 92% of black vote for Obama is noted.

We’ve become a weepy double standard bunch of dorks it seems.

As if that’s the only alternative. They’d normally vote for Hillary. As they were at the top of the year. The fact that he’s black might have been noticed by a couple of black voters, maybe.

Oh, I know, I know: they’re voting for him because “he speaks to their issues” LOL

What a crock of shit. Idiot.

Well, first most Americans would point out that American isn’t a race, (nor are Australian or Canadian) so you’d have to define what you mean by “American” better. Then they’d pronounce him white because that’s what he looks like. My half Latino mother and her siblings are also “white” in most everyone’s eyes because of the color of their skin.

You’re the hopeless douche bag who said that Obama was from a racially confused background.

God separated the “races”, and they should stay that way, right?

One thing’s for sure. Hillary’s got the *Deliverance *vote locked up.

Have fun at your meeting!
