Hillary's jacket

Or they are shallow if they are seen as paying too much attention to their appearances, but if they start looking older when they’re in the mid-60s, it’s an outrage that makes people uncomfortable.

Okay. To my eye, it looks like a couch cover and is so fantastically ugly and unflattering - on anyone, male or female, old or young, who’s not a standup comedian or a clown - that it goes far beyond any discussion of gender in politics or celebrity. if you want to write my comments off as sexist and gender-divided, feel free. However, I will probably still be seeing these photos and hoping for better when I punch the button next to her name in 18 or so months.

Fashion is a funny thing. What you think is ugly and unflattering, someone saleswoman at the store said made her look marvelous

Which is another enormous kettle of worms altogether.

Insert ObJoke about the Empress’s New Clothes.

And you know, dahling, it’s more important to look marvelous than to feel marvelous.

Of course they are.

Male politicians have a much stricter dress code than women. Dark suit, light shirt, tie. Want to express yourself? Okay maybe simple pattern on the tie. Stripes or something, but don’t over do it.

I remember when Obama decided to forgo tie part of the standard “suit and tie” a few times some jackal on Fox News thought it needed to be pointed out that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad wore a similar look.

Remember when Mitt Romney tried to look more like the common man by dressing down on the campaign trail? But he didn’t get it quite right and was walking around in “mom jeans”.

I’m sure if John Boehner or some body comes on TV tomorrow in a suit with some obnoxious plaid pattern on it, yes he will be publicly judged.

But men don’t have any mystery about what to wear. Wear a suit and nobody will ever notice what you are wearing. That’s all the thinking you need to do. Obama makes it even easier by only wearing black or grey suits.

If we go with a similar uniform, we get made fun of, like Hilary did with her pants suit. And for some reason, the dark suit is out of favor for high powered female politicians, so they have the bizarre world of colored suits to deal with. Not to mention the conundrum of formal events, where guys wear tuxes and look dressed up and professional, while ladies have no equivalent and are expected to wear red carpet Hollywood looks.

About 6 more months and all literally all of her clothes will be Grandmother’s clothes whether she wants them to be or not.

She may have gone to a ball game after the lecture . . . as the catcher.
