Her Majesty ELIZABETH the Second, by the Grace of God, of Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, Belize, Canada, Grenada, Jamaica, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Saint Christopher and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, The Solomon Islands, Tuvalu, The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and of Her other Realms and Territories QUEEN, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of the Faith, has declared that Her Majesty will not attend the wedding ceremony - the civil ceremony, that is - of His Royal Highness Charles, the Prince of Wales, with His Royal Highness’s longtime paramour.
Her Majesty the Queen will attend the subsequent blessing and prayer ceremony in a chapel in Windsor Castle.
I don’t blame her. Charles needs his head tested marrying that ugly wrench. Think of all the beautiful women in the world he could have and he picks the old hag. i’ll give the marriage 2 years before it all ends in tears.
Ah well. That’ll save on the catering bill, anyway: a few less snarlers and sausage rolls to budget for. Honestly, I don’t know where she puts them, what with her “dodgy tummy” she’s always on about. Anyway, you know what she’s like: two sherries and she’s hiking up her skirt to show everyone her operation scars; four, and she’s wearing the lampshade on her head and singing “Eskimo Nell”. It’s probably best, really.
Chas’s previous wife was touted as beautiful but was, in fact, decidedly ordinary-looking - whether before or after the nose-job. While she was alive, a TV comedian over here (Paul Merton, on “Have I Got News For You”) regularly referred to her as an “overblown tart”.
As to why HM the Q isn’t going to the civil ceremony, I reckon it’s because she, like most of her generation, consider such things to be tacky affairs. I believe that she is going to the religious ceremony afterwards, though.
Would that this were the pit so I could be more forthcoming about what I think of this post. Shallow does not begin to descibe it.
For godsake, syngin, did you not notice that he married a woman generally considered beautiful and it ended in tears? Now he’s marrying the woman he actually loves. Why would it end?
I don’t know, I can see the point as a matter of State. But it would be nice if Elizabeth would be less of a Queen and more of a mother. And be there when her sone does something that makes him happy. Perhaps she should realize the Empire (well…the Commmonwealth ) will not crumble if the Prince of Wales marries a divorcee. The shame of it is they didn’t aknowledge this years ago and pushed him into a sham marriage.
Personally, I find Charles and his beloved to be a loathsome pair (and I don’t just mean based on their looks), but the sooner they hitch up and put an end to the tedious scandal of their endless “affair” the better. I think they and the Queen deserve each other.
Not to pile on, syngin, but Charles has already had one self-serving marriage based on youth, beauty and “appropriateness,” and it was an utter disaster. If Chuck and Camilla love each other, the least they can do is marry each other and stop victimizing others by their determination to have it both ways.
