Hey, gotta love minor league hockey. Good seat for little money and great action. I love my Long Beach Ice Dogs.
But I will admit if the Kings of Ducks do well this year I will be a fair weather fan. Well, I am planning to save the pennies and go to a game this year to see the Staples Center.
If expansion teams hold true this year as always, the most interesting part might just be the Zamboni
…although I have already seen Gaborik play…this guy is gonna set the hockey world on its head someday…probably soon.
As for me…
::looks around warily for traditionalists::
“Go Ducks!”
…yeah, yeah, I know: “…and take the Angels with you.”
Heard that one already.
I’m just putting everyone on notice that arrangements to bring the cup back to Denver have already been made. Anyone who missed the memo has also missed their chance to object. You may file objections now the 2001-2002 season.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but wanting to win one for Bourque doesn’t gurantee an Avs victory. Roy has to play better than Belfour (in the playoffs) to advance, and that didn’t happen in the last 2 years. Frankly, if I had to pick a team other than the Stars, I think that the Blues may just be the Western Conference team in the Cup finals.
Oh mais oui. My town finally got a minor team, and it’s great! You can heckle the goalie! Great cheap date (if she likes), and the beer specials aren’t that bad. Also not bad for an inexpensive outing if yer broke (like me). . .
Who in the hell let this Avs fan in? Come over here so I can kick your ass
Just kidding. Just a slight hijack, but the best hockey fight I have ever witnessed is when Roy and Osgood (both goalies) met at center ice and proceeded to pound each other silly a couple of years back.
The Rangers will have a return to respectability this year, led by the return of the best leader in all of sports, Mark Messier. He is head and shoulders above the rest when it comes to leadership ability. It’s great to have him back.
As for the best fight I ever saw: In 1997, I think, Continental Arena, East Rutherford, NJ . . .
This big Polish guy Oliwa (like 6’5") beats up the Maple Leafs’ Kris King. Later in the game 5’8" Tie Domi skates over to Oliwa before the faceoff and says something to him. Oliwa comes over and stands next to Domi, as soon as the puck drops Domi and Oliwa throw down and go at it. It was a great fight, and Domi cut Oliwa, it required stitches!
If you need any more proof that Tie Domi is the baddest mutha in all of hockey, when he was a little kid he busted his front teeth out on the handlebars of his bike, so that he could look like Bobby Clarke. Worrell is pretty nasty too, but pound for pound, no one is better than Domi.
Dignan, Mess doesn’t have the horses to lead. The D is porous, #1 goalie is still out (may play the w/e) and they have trouble scoring . Fleury couldn’t hit a net the size they drag behind fishing trawlers. Wish it was different, it isn’t.
