I picked up Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon (it was dirt cheap and I grew up in the 80s; it was a no-brainer), Skyrim, and Dishonored last night. When the hell I’m going to play all of these (on top of the dozen or so other games I’ve collected recently), I do not know. But like I said on another Steam-related thread, I’m pretty sure my favorite game is actually “Buying Games on Steam,” and this sale is making it a full-time venture.
For me, the worst part of it all is that I’m actually too old for this shit. I picked up XCOM, played half way through the tutorial, and had that sinking feeling of “I can’t be arsed to get into this, it’s too much work”. Then I tabbed over to my browser and went back to playing 2048.
I still have Hitman: Absolution sitting in my library since the previous sale, and I’ve barely touched it. I would rather play another round of Blood Money. New games just means new shit I have to learn. It feels like a chore.
None of which stops me from going back to the Steam store to find more things that make me go “ooh, shiny”. ![]()
It’ll be the the same price on Steam. I’d get it from Steam so I don’t end up with a duplicate from GOG, have at least one duplicate already.
I picked up Dungeon Defenders: Almost the Whole Damned Thing. The bundle was missing the Tinker’s Lab DLC, which was going for $0.49. The Enhanced Steam plugin shows me that I could have gotten the same deal last December for half the price, but I didn’t know if I’d like the game before I got it on XBox for free in their Games with Gold promotion.
Rocksmith 2014 flashsale -75% going for $14.99
Buy or wait?
Skyrim just hit 75% off (US $4.99) or $13.59 for the Legendary pack which includes all DLC. I’ve been waiting for the DLC to go on sale, but the complete bundle is now less than what they would cost me separately, so I guess one of my Steam friends is getting vanilla Skyrim as a gift
The next community vote includes Batman: Arkham Origins (third of the series) at 75% off, $7.50, so be sure to cast your vote if you want that!
ETA: Nope, they’re not giving me an extra Skyrim license.
I see that Banished is $10 on a flash sale now.
Same boat for me, So I finally got it. Now to try to see if I have my old saves, or if I gotta start over again ![]()
Dammit! I just bought it last night for $9.99! Oh well. It was still a good deal. I’m sure I’ll get way more than 10 bucks worth of enjoyment out of it.
I want Prison Architect but I can’t bring myself to pay for an alpha.
GAH!! No room for downloads!?! How in the hell did I fill up .8 Tb of drives devoted to steam games?
Picked up Wasteland 2! Classic RPG’s are blossoming on PC!
I have Steam on a 2 Tb drive and still had to uninstall games that I won’t be playing any time soon.
Well, it was supposed to be 1.8 Tb, but I can’t type.
UN…in…stall?? what an odd word. Must be some fancy LEET acronym kids are using these days as shorthand for "go to Newegg and order a bigger drive’. ![]()
I’ve been staring at Banished for months now. When it hit $10 I figured it was time to pick it up. Adding in Tropico 4 and Ducktales, shows that I have not done the greatest job keeping this year light
Now I am just keeping my eyes open for any pleasant surprises. When (and if) Kerbal gets discounted further I will definitely pick that up. The Cave looks pretty cool too but I am not sure I need that collecting dust in my library. Anyone have experience with The Cave?
Picked up Banish. GOing through the tutorials. So far, MUCH more interesting and fun than the $60 Sim City. Damn you EA.
I have not finished The Cave, but I have found it a charming and unique game. I waited a long time for it to on sale after playing a demo.
I have The Cave. It’s pretty good. It is a puzzle platform game, kind of Trine-ish. You pick 3 characters (out of 10 or so) each with a couple of unique abilities, and solve puzzles to progress through the levels. There is no combat (although there are traps and other things that can kill you). The narrator is pretty funny and the game is very humorous. Each character has a unique level that you can only play if you have that character as one of your 3. It is not terribly long, but because every char has unique abilities, you can replay the levels in different ways. I’d recommend it, especially if you can get it on the cheap.
Buy. AFAIK, prices don’t go lower than Flash Sale price. FWIW, I bought it at $15. It sure seemed like a fun excuse to play guitar more, and at $15 I highly doubt I’ll be disappointed.
Done!
