Did you even bother to read the OP fetus? Did you miss this bit?
Any more ‘context’ you’d like me to fill you in with?

Even if I were wrong, how is referring to “internet Jew-supremacism” anti-semitic?
When will the Native Americans get over losing all their land to Europeans? I mean, there are still plenty of NAs around, right? So what’s the big deal?
Yeah, I’m with everyone else who’s saying, “I don’t give a fuck how you are in ‘real life;’ on here, you’re being a shithead.”
Several years ago, when I referred to the ‘genocide’ of the North American Indians a poster argued that with a completely straight face. There are plenty of Indians around so it wasn’t genocide.

That’s what I was wondering!
Bloke #1: Whites have more reverence towards charity than any other people.
Bloke #2: That seems kind of supremacist, doncha think? Where are you coming from with that?
Bloke #3 (in reference to #2): Racist!!!
Ladies and gentlemen, this doesn’t make any sense.

Maybe if what was said was “that seems kind of supremacist, doncha think? Where are you coming from with that?” a small discussion as to what was meant from a historiocultural POV could have been had. But “Jew-this or that” is a phrase that is more often spat than said, and the meme of “Those {some add “dirty” here, some don’t} Jews think they are better than the rest of us” has been part of the antisemitic toolbox for many a year.
So yeah, getting a twofer of it makes one blink. The implied “fact” of common Jewish supremacy complex with the “Jew-blank” is bilious. Personally I think it shows how inculcated many of these canards are that someone would say that and be surprised that it was offensive.

I didn’t find it offensive. So I must be deeply steeped in racism…
I find *that *offensive.
OK, I thought I was used to internet Jew-supremacism by now, but what?!? What are you basing this on?
I’m not bashing you, but I am kinda curious as to what exactly you mean by that.
You seem to be implying that Jews are, in your experience, notorious for asserting their “supremacy” on the internet.

No, not notorious, because I’ve observed that Jewish-supremacy is taken for granted on the 'net - in general by Jews and non-Jews alike.

Really?
Very strange. I cannot say I’ve noticed this at all.
In what ways or fields do Jews and non-Jews assert Jewish supremacy?

Lots. But I wouldn’t trust your version of it anyway, so don’t bother. Especially since you seem to legitimately think that you’ve provided the context necessary to make the judgment.

Funny thing is, I’m not aware of any anti-semitism in real life. Not anywhere. At all. It’s mostly right here on the Dope I keep being reminded and sensitized and re-sensitized to all the anti-semitism in the world.
There’s the whole middle east thing. The nightly news has been giving me nightly updates about Israel every night, nightly - did I say nightly? Yeah, nightly, every night my entire life.
You know, if it weren’t for the nightly news and this board continually reminding me how hard it is to be Jewish/Iraeili, Jews and Israelis wouldn’t mean much more to me than Chukchis.

This is a very odd response to my questions.
In what way is it relevant to what I was asking? Are you saying that you resent the imposition of Jewish (and Israeli, something quite different) issues ond concerns on your notice through the news and the Dope, and that this imposition is an example of “Jewish supremacy”?

No, it was your innocent counter argument, “gee whiz, I’ve never noticed this.” Yeah, like you really haven’t noticed. Didn’t we have a Jewish smiley for the longest time? Did we have an atheist smiley, a Catholic smiley, a Muslim one? A Buddhist one? A gay one? a black one? Of course not, why should we? And why should we question why there was a Jewish one. Are you an anti-semite?

The Hassidic Jew smiley was a symbol of Jewish supremacy?
Sir, you have left our planet, and you may need professional help getting back. Godspeed.

I’m not arguing in favor of Jewish Internet Supremacy. Doesn’t exist. I don’t like the innocent “hadn’t noticed” argument. Hadn’t noticed what, Jews? Please. Yeah, Jews are all quiet and stuff. They have nooooo influence in America disproportionate to their percent of population.
Back to the OP…
I will relate to you a story that happened to me in the workplace. This was several years and a couple of jobs ago. I was a recent hire at this place when a pretty nasty political fight broke out between my manager and another one. Most of engineering didn’t agree with some of the things that my manager wanted to do (and in retrospect, they were mostly correct) but did them anyway. Soon enough, the big boss got involved and called a bunch of us engineers into a meeting.
The big boss asked why we all did things a certain way and the consensus was because my manager told them to do it and they did it even though they thought that it was the wrong approach. The big boss said, “What are you, a bunch of Nazis?”
It was clear from the context that he was just making a bad joke, i.e. “we were just following orders.” Still, it was like a punch in the gut. It was just one of those visceral things. I said something like, “I would appreciate a different analogy next time” and he apologized and moved on. It didn’t even occur to me to tell HR or even think about it again but my initial reaction was what it was. If something like that would have happened during a one on one argument with someone, it would have probably infuriated me.
I am a totally secular Jew and haven’t been to a synagogue in over a decade. It doesn’t make a difference.

Well! Color me polka-dotted and ship me to Latvia (as elucidator might say), but I for one never suspected for a moment that our late lamented Hasidic smiley was actually code for the Internet Jewish Supremacy movement.
Now some might label this thread a hopeless trainwreck, but we’ve certainly learned a lot of interesting things along the way.
Funny thing is, I’m not aware of any anti-semitism in real life.
When it comes to my day-to-day dealings with other people, I pretty much agree. I hardly ever encounter it.
It’s mostly right here on the Dope
Yes.
Or in any semi-anonymous forum where certain folks can let their hair down and tell it like they see it.
It takes a long time to get over ingrained bigotry.
Maybe in a few thousand more years…
At work today, a new bloke (who has proved himself to be a complete fuckwit in other circumstances anyway) addressed her as Hitler.
This is a bit of a sore point with me at the moment - see this thread - but in many organisations over here (U.K.) this behaviour would be a formal warning at the very least, and a prime excuse for firing the guy (‘We do not tolerate racist behaviour’). Since he’s proved himself a complete fuckwit in other circumstances, then it’s the boot and good riddance.
