Holiday (Christmas mostly) music - the bad and the ugly

I looked to see if there is a thread specifically about holiday music that is played out, trite, twee, annoying, and otherwise in need of having the master tape launched on a rocket to the sun, never to return. I think this topic pops up here and there, but here is a place to list the shittiest songs for the Santa season.

Me first!

Carol of the Bells - no advertisers, you are not clever in having some chant about your wares set to this tune. I can’t stand it. I think about five years ago, nobody thought that it was being used so all the schmucks in adland started using it. Doesn’t anyone in the board room ever stand up and say, “Look, this has been done to death, can we not do Carol of the Bells anymore?”

It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year - No it fucking isn’t, not with this schlock playing (again) on every ad. It’s not original, and it reeks of that fake positivity that people who act like assholes the rest of the year put on for two weeks in December.

In years past, I’ve also nominated Dear Mr. Jesus but I haven’t heard it in years. And I’m thankful. Actually, I kind of miss talking shit about it.

It’s that time of year to start circulating this one again:

I’m a Michael Buble fan… but when I hear him sing “Santa Buddy” it’s just creepy.

“Christmas Shoes”: 'tis the season for schmaltzy middle-class guilt!

“12 Days of Christmas” and especially any “humorous” variation thereof needs to be beamed straight into a supernova.

I hate ‘Santa Baby’ so much I want to set everyone who sang it on fire.
AAARGHR IT’S IN MY HEAD AGAIN AAARGH
