I am -so- glad that it’s Firday. This has been an unsettling week for me and I haven’t been feeling all that well either. But many hugs for kaiwik; my week hasn’t been like yours. You’re in my thoughts and prayers, kai!
Had Chinese for dinner - crab wonton and sweet and sour pork. I’m not afraid to try different dishes, but sometimes I don’t like the dish! The wonton was familiar and was pretty good, although a bit too crispy for me. The sweet and sour … not so much. Maybe I should stick with the dishes that I know I like–General Tso’s chicken, for instance, or shrimp egg foo young.
Don’t know what kind of weather we’ll be getting tomorrow, but we’re fairly well stocked, I think. lol I might make some Indian stuffus this weekend–stuffed puris maybe, with potato/onion filling. YUM!
Hope everyone enjoys the weekend. Oh yes, good to hear from SpecialOne too.
I step in. Briefly look around. I wave at all of y’all.
I shudder at the knowledge that Saturday’s first task will involve re-locating snow.
I rejoice a bit at the fact that within 48 hours, various people have either handed me tickets, or invited me to join them at THREE Blackhawks games between Sunday and the 19th. Next Friday’s being against my beloved Rangers, and yes I will wear the Blue in our insurance guy’s luxury suite.
I sneak back out, waving again and climb the stairs to curl up with this week’s book and a cold beer.
Tomorrow, I’ve got errands to run, shopping to do, laundry to do, and packing to do and I need to be in bed early, early, early because I have to get up at 2:00 am. Maybe I can stretch it to 2:30, but the shuttle guy will be here at 4:00 am to pick me up for my flight to Texas, so I need to be ready to go.
I opted to leave my laptop at work. The hotel I’m staying at makes you pay for wireless or internet service and I’m cheap, so I’m not doing it.
I’m hoping to pop in tomorrow, but I may not get to pop in here until the 17th or 18th of this month.
At any rate hugs, smooches and gropes to all of y’all! Gotta dash!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! I slept in until 7:30! Then again we were in bed at 8:30 last night. Ol y’all know who is still snoozin’ away. It’s cloudy and cool. We may have rain. Or not. That’s pretty much what the forecast is sayin’ about today.
snowbunny I am lookin’ forward to havin’ a weekday off. It’ll be good to be able to take care of weekday stuff without figurin’ out how to juggle the work schedule.
I need brekkies. Maybe pancakes and link sausages. MMMMMMMM…
Ok, need more caffiene and to get brekkies goin’. The smell of sausages will cause stirrin’ from the snoozer I bet.
Happy Saturday!! **FCD **and I were up early, so we showered and went to try out a new cafe that took over where one of our favorite old cafes was. It wasn’t bad, but it was pricey… He’s futzing in his shop now - building drawers for his new work table. I emptied and refilled the dishwasher, and I’m killing time till we have to go look at the boat - in about an hour. The kids are still sleeping, as far as I can tell.
Last night, daughter and I were sitting on the love seat recliner knitting - I was working on a helmet liner and she was making a dishcloth using #3 needles, just because. The cat, naturally, had to be there, and he settled on my lap. Scruffy felt left out till we invited him up, and he snuggled between the two of us. Poor Bernie, stuck on the floor.
I’ve got a crick in my neck this morning - guess I slept in a funny position or something. It’s more annoying than painful, so there’s that. Apart from looking at the boat, today’s plans include laundry, knitting, and maybe more tidying in the last corner of the studio. Maybe. Depends on how I feel.
::waves at MBG::
I was going to say that the weekday/weekend combination of your new schedule sounds good, swampy, but forgot in my last post.
Yay for Haze having a nice life! It’s about time.
We have freezing rain this morning, as expected. At least they’ve reduced the amount of snow we’re expecting. It was supposed to be 4-6 inches and is now supposed to be 1 inch. But the freezing rain is, indeed, freezing, as evidenced by the frozen drops of rain that were on my newspaper. At least the carrier actually put it in a plastic bag this time. It would be nice to have some nice normal snow for a change.
They just broadcast an awesome interview of Griffin Bellright now (he died this week). (The audio for today’s interview isn’t there yet; there’s one with Nina Totenberg from Monday, though, which is interesting, too.) I’d say the new U.S. Attorney General needs to listen to both interviews and model himself after Bell.
Since the weather is so inviting, I’m going to be cleaning house and restoring computer files. Big fun, no?
Off to have a bit more brekkie. Happy Saturday, all!
“scintillating” has always been one of my favorite words.
Couldn’t possibly tell you why, but there you go.
Today will involve the blowing of snow (remember to gauge wind direction first), possibly the gym, grocery shopping, probably coming back to deal with snow again and then join the neighbors for the evening football game.
Evening all. We are home from our monster vacation (just about 5 hours ago), and we are all ezzzzzausted. HRH is already fast asleep, and I will not be far behind her. I haven’t had a chance to read and catch up - tomorrow hopefully.
Over the course of the next week, I will download (and subsequently upload) all the holiday pics and carefully draft a scintillating OP for Monday the 19th! YAWWWWNNNNN! Later folks.
I’m up and (mostly) awake. What did I do to my back yesterday that would make it so sore this morning? This must be this getting old thing people keep talking about.
The Boy and I have a busy day of dim sum eating and pasta maker buying ahead of us. It’s all so very exciting.
Welcome home, Dotty! Can’t wait to hear all about your epic vacation.
Yawn… woke up this morning and there was still half a pot of coffee in the carafe, with the warming burner still on. Guess we were both sleepy last night and forgot to check it! Himself is brave and grabbed a starter cup of the scary brew while I elected to wait for the fresh pot. That, my friends, is the difference between a coffee drinker and a coffee addict!
I have no exciting plans for today aside from a couple of friends who plan to stop by to wish Himself a belated happy birthday. Therefore I suppose I should get out the vacuum and attempt to make the place look slightly less like a bear garden or something…
Good morning everyone. I’m up, the coffee is brewing, and I’m getting ready to start packing for my trip. Bleah, I still don’t want to go, but, it’ll be out of the way, so there’s that.
My husband couldn’t get to work yesterday because of flooding. It turns out his yard (he drives a semi for a living), was under water. One of his friends that also works there called at 4:00 am yesterday to tell him. They couldn’t even get to the yard to check on the condition of the office and semis and trailers. Hopefully, it’s not too bad. There’s a logging truck yard kind of across the street from my husband’s yard. It sits kind of down in a hole, and the water was up to the top of the hoods of the Kenworth semis parked there. That’s a lot of water.
Coffee is done! Now I can finally wake the hell up!
They mentioned all the flooding in Washington on the news this morning and I thought of you, Taters. Sorry it’s affecting hubby’s work (but glad it doesn’t seem to be affecting your home).
Moving slow this morning (whoa, it’s afternoon already?) I made breakfast ages ago, and sorted the laundry and started a load. And loaded and ran the dishwasher.
Mr Rebo is in the attic laying a floor up there. We’re having a new AC unit installed next week, and we don’t want them to fall through the ceiling, like hubby did last year! It will be nice to have a new unit, and new ductwork. We’ll save on the electric bill, and hopefully the dust problem will be lessened.
This morning when I got up it was around 70°. I thought about taking the dogs to the park to beat the cold front that was coming in, but I didn’t make it. The wind started blowing around 8:00 and the temp dropped 15°. So I changed my mind. Tonight we get into the 30’s…BRRR!
I think we’re going to Red Lobster for dinner, to use the gift card my brother sent for Christmas. Dad loves Red Lobster. Me, not so much… That’s ok, though.
ETA: Forgot to say welcome home, Dotty! Looking forward to the pictures.
Welcome back **Dotty]! We eagerly await being scintillated.
No rain but cloudy and coolish. Good day for just hangin’ at da cave. Got a 12 qt. slowcooker full of chicken noodle soup simmerin’ away and a pork roast in another smaller slow cooker that will turn into bbq which will be good durin’ the week next week. Steak and friggin’ good N.O.T. for dindin tonight.
We are Sniped! We bought the super-cheap little sailboat this morning. It’s filthy, the standing rigging and running rigging need to be replaced, as does the rudder, and most of the hardware is shot. But the hull is sound, as are the mast and boom, and even the crappy trailer isn’t totally horrible. It’s definitely worth the $250 we paid for it.
Daughter started out by raking out all the leaves and crap that accumulated inside. Under the leaves, she found some Buck Foam - guess these guys were hunters as well as sailors… Once we took off everything we could (some of the lines were really gross) we covered it in heavy-duty plastic, tied everything down, and set the mast on top. That part will wait till it’s a tad warmer. We’ve also got tons of boat stuff in the white shed, so we ought to be able to replace most of the hardware from our stash.
Meanwhile, she’ll work with her dad to make a new rudder, sand and oil the tiller and extension, and decide on a name and color scheme. We came home to a phone call from the seller - he gave us the wrong sails and boom, so I’m meeting his son in Leonardtown to swap. The kid’s really excited about having a boat that’s her own. We’ll help her out, but she and her spouse will do most of the work themselves.
Then we get to teach them how to back a trailer… hehehe.
The temp climbed to near 50, but it’s now clouded over and rain is in the offing. I think I’ll knit the rest of the day away.
We just watched Mamma Mia. I’ve had the dvd for a couple of weeks but just got around to watchin’ today. It’s fun. You have to like Abba and/or be gay to enjoy it I think.
Soup and roast are done. They need to be cooled a bit. Then I’ll put the soup in some containers. We’ll have some tomorrow and some one day next week. The pork I’ll pull apart for bbq. It’ll be dindin one night this week with some goin’ for a lunch or two. I’m thinkin’ about five we’ll grill steaks. Two friends are comin’ over for steak, sallit and friggin’ good N.O.T.. Think maybe I’ll pop open a bottle of merlot also.
Ok, off to do well, ummm… sump’n. Maybe I should peel and chunk the N.O.T. and onions and chunk up the bell pepper.
