Holiday party - a Twelfth Night MMP

It’s rainy. We now have to proper sails and boom. Pics have been taken - I’ll post a link in a bit.

Poke is rotissing. It smells teh yum!

::crawling out from under my rock:: blink blink

What a hella week. Trish and Charlie are moving ahead with the cleanup after the fire. They have much to be thankful for, but still, what a devastating shock for them. Personally, I am giving thanks that it didn’t happen while the kids and Tea were visiting.

We finally have snow, on the ground and falling, although it is supposed to turn to rain.

We are waiting to find out when the priest (Russian Orthodox) will be free for the funeral. There will be both a mass and a graveside service. I predict much sadness and emotional outpouring. I guess this is a good time to try out how rigs Death Chicken goes over up North. (lame arsed attempt at levity)

I am sipping hot chocolate dosed with rum (it really is 5:00 somewhere) and watching the snow fall, lost in contemplation. Have I told all y’all how much I appriciate and count on you?

{{kai}} be strong, sweetie. We’re here for you.

Finally got some pics of the new toy posted. It’s all wrapped in plastic now to protect it from possible snow before the winter is up. I’ll post pics as work progresses.

The house is smelling pork-a-licious. I’ve got kaiser rolls so we can make sammiches. I’s hongry

More hugs for you, kai. It’s after 5 here, maybe I’ll make some hot chocolate too.

Cool boat, FCM.

I’ve been sifting through some papers and magazines, watching the rest of Burn Notice (they have all of this season’s episodes on hulu right now), and messed around further with the laptop.

I’m thinking I’ll get away from the laptop for a bit and maybe investigate din-din.

Back later.

Thanks Moooom, I am doing my best. Poor skiffman though, he lost his father last June, and this is the fourth sibling he has lost to alcohol.

This month marks his 15th year sober.

That sure is a cute l’il dingy you have there!

Make sure you tip some rum in that cocoa, gt, it sure warms the tummy and the spirit!

Pasta maker has been acquired and we’re now in the process of making our first batch of authentically homemade pasta.

I’ve got a whole new level of respect for Italian nonnas, because let me tell you, pasta dough is a sumbitch to knead. I don’t even want to imagine how much upper body strength it would take to roll it out the old-fashioned way with a rolling pin… they must have had biceps of steel. (thankfully, for me and my biceps of jelly, the pasta machine oughta make that much easier)

That’s a cute little boat you’ve got yourself there, FCM. I bet it’ll be right zippy on the water once you’ve got it in ship-shape.

{{kai}} You and skiffman are in my thoughts.

Home. I get tomorrow off, I think I’ll get my oil changed. Watching hockey tonight.

{{{{kai}}}} Congrats to Skiffman on 15!

Neat dinghy, FCM. [Roy Scheider]We’re gonna need a bigger boat.[/RS]
gt, I’m having steak, sallit, and baked N.O.T., I’ll PM you a bite.

Welcome back, dotty!

Rum. Mmm.

Ah. Oh. Yes. MamaTigs says hi but she is in the middle of yet another Job From Hell and doesn’t want to get distracted by online fun until she makes herself finish it.

I’ll look at the pics of the boat later when I get home because my work computer won’t let me. I don’t want to complain too loudly about that though because it does let me get here, though it’s been cracking down lately and I wouldn’t be surprised if it changes its mind.

Tired. Had a nice frittata with red bell peppers, peas, turkey and bacon. And avocado on top. Took a nap. Should do something else, but not very motivated.

Isn’t this your second day off this week, doggio? It’s a miracle!

I’m out of rum, kai. Will bourbon do? Or maybe brandy.

Off to investigate chocolate.

Whew! Most of my stuff is packed. All that’s left is my flat iron, curling iron, make-up and lotion.

Went to Penneys today where they were having a kick-ass sale. I scored three pair of slacks, a blouse, and a nice shirt for the hubby for $90.00.

I don’t know if I’ll be able to check in this upcoming week so I’m sending pre-emptive hugs, yays, boos, smooches and gropes.

MWAH! To all of you!

Have a great trip, Taters! Hope you can check in while you’re gone.

Tomorrow’s Adopted Dad’s birthday, but it’s going to be rainy so we celebrated tonight. He made a fish stew that was made of delicious and awesome. I’d never had fish stew before. Now I know what I’ve been missing.

Petercat wants me to stop typing and pet him, so I’ll attend to that. Night all!

Hi everybody!

Nice boat, Mooom!! I bet she cleans up well!

More hugs for you, {{{Kai}}}.

We had Red Lobster for dinner - it was pretty good! I had wood-fired lobster tail, shrimp and scallops. Very well cooked, and the broccoli was both hot and not underdone! Miracles will never cease.

Got some excellent news today! Mr Rebo will be getting unemployment starting almost immediately, and it’s not that much less than what he would make on a bad week - meaning a straight 40 hour week. He usually worked a lot of overtime. Anyway, he’ll be able to take his time finding another job, and can get some work done around the house, like installing the rest of the new windows, and putting up new siding in the back, and painting. We can afford him to be off for a few months, if need be, and we will take a vacation this spring! We have tons of stuff to sell on e-Bay that he has been acquiring just for resale on e-Bay - mostly coins, and that will finance a trip to Florida. (He’s an amateur numismatist.)

That is a big relief. We can afford a pay cut, just not no income at all.

ReboSon went to the doc yesterday, and he removed a few of the stitches, but recommended he see a specialist. It was getting a bit infected, and the doc changed his meds to give him a stronger antibiotic. On top of all this, Son’s alternator went out on his car. <groan> Mr Rebo is going to install a new one tomorrow. My husband is amazing, let me tell you. He can do almost any repair job on anything. Even if he bitches and moans and cusses.

Lots of clouds, but silver linings are peeking through.

Hugs and kisses, y’all.

Brandy is a most acceptable substitute gt!

rebo I feel like such a slacker for not being up to date on what has been going on. I am glad that Mr. Rebo is unemployed, (laid off?) but thrilled that you won’t be left in a financial lurch. As for your son’s thumb, I sure hope the new antibiotics take care of the infection. As for the car, the best of luck, having a handy husband is a good thing in that sort of situation.

Taters I hope that your trip is a good one.

Everyone else, thanks for putting up with me.

You’re not a slacker! You’ve been very distracted! Thanks for the good thoughts. (Yes Mr. Rebo got laid off on Tuesday.)

We are NOT “putting up with you.” We care about you. Please vent or whatever you need to do ANYTIME! PM me if you need another ear. I will listen, I promise.

Nice FCM!

We got all the furniture out and it just barely fit into the storage unit. But it fit and I can get into my file cabinet and my kimono drawers. I’m still waiting for people to come pick up the stuff they bought off Craigslist.

I no longer have internet at home. And I don’t have a monitor even if I had. I turned my old CRT monitor into the e-waste disposal along with a really crappy laptop (Windows 95 and no USB drive support) so I couldn’t use it even if I did have dsl. My dad has an extra LCD monitor he’s going to give me.

I got my sister to do a bunch of cleaning, but I still have quite a bit to do. I’m still hoping I’ll be done ahead of time, especially with nothing else to distract me. I’m hoping I’ll be able to leave work early everyday this week.

In short: moving is a pain in the ass.

Morning, all.

Not much to say. Just more hugs for kai and a wave to Noonie.

{{{kai}}} hang in there. Like others said, this is the place to come when you need to express thoughts and/or vent. Congrats to Skiffman for 15 yrs. sober!

Cute boat MOOOOOOM I bet it’ll be the spiffiest, jakiest lil’ boat at the marina when it’s all cleaned up.

Have a safe trip Taters! I’d say have fun but since it’s bidness, I won’t.

Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ here. Soon I’ll purtify for churchification. I thinkwe might just go some place classy like BK and grab a biscuit for brekkies this mornin’. I start my Sunday shift today. I’m thinkin’ it’ll be pretty laid back from what I’ve heard Sunday’s are. We shall see.

Ok, need a little more caffiene and then purtification.

I won’t be back in today, so I’ll see y’all in the new MMP.

Amen to that. In our younger, early-married days, we had 5 addresses our first 7 years. That got old right fast, so we stayed at the last place for 7 years before we were transferred and had to move again. We’re in the 3rd house since then, and this place is it. There’s only 2 ways I can imagine moving: Out the door feet first on a gurney  or if we hit a super lottery and buy a waterfront estate and can afford to hire someone to move us and unpack us and all that stuff.

So, yeah, we’re staying put.

Weird dreams last night, but I’m up and caffeinating. I’ve decided that since Bernie is undoubtedly deaf, the only way I’m taking her out is leashed. I know Scruffy won’t go anywhere, but despite her age and infirmity, Bernie still likes to go walkabout. So that’s that.

Plans for today include the laundry I didn’t do yesterday. And more knitting on the helmet liner. And a roasted chicken for supper. And I don’t know what else. I’ll figure it out.

The kid wants to paint her boat purple, but there was no purple boat paint to be found. So now she’s thinking kelly green, with a Celtic name. She’s also got a smaller boat that she’s going to repaint at the same time. Yesterday she declared “I have a fleet!” I suggested she might advertise herself as a sailing teacher. She did it in camp last summer, and now with her own boat, she could take 2 kids at a time and learn them to sail real good!

Weekends go way too fast - at least next week, we get 3 days… Oh yeah, and tomorrow’s MMP is almost ready. Now, as long as I remember to post it.

Me too. Although I’d keep this place as one of my residences should I ever hit the lotto big. (It’s lovely to dream, isn’t it?) Good luck on your move S’Tyger.

Do we need to remind you??? We could do so in big letters and stuff. And “Amen” on the fast weekend part.

Such a coincidence; I’ve got 3 days off next week too. Although I have to use my own leave time to get two of them.

Have a good first Sunday shift, swampy!

I need to clear some stuff up in the living room and clean the kitchen and bath as the little brother will be staying here tonight.

Back later.
