Holiday party - a Twelfth Night MMP

This weekend has gone much too fast for me too… I was lazy and unmotivated yesterday, so I did not get any cleaning or laundry done. Which is OK as we are getting snow. No small amount of snow either. 8-10 inches. It started snowing last night and is still snowing. We also still have snow on the ground from the last time it snowed and ice from a freezing rain earlier in the week.

I did get some knitting done. In fact, I ran out of yarn before Hawkeye’s scarf achieved acceptable width. So, now I need to look for more yarn. Wish me luck at finding it in the right dye lot! Though, if I got a different dye lot, he would probably never notice, being a non-gay guy and all. I’m not looking for more yarn today though, on account of snow, so it’ll just have to wait. I wonder what I should start next… So many things, so little time.

I also got a pedicure yesterday. Hawkeye got me a gift certificate for Chrismakah;it was quite thoughtful of him, I know it was a scary place for him to go into. My toesies are now painted a beeyootiful dark shimmery red color.

Congrats on the boat for FCKid, Moooom

Hope you have a good day at work, Swampy and everyone else working today

Kai!! We are here for you. We do not “put up” with you; you’re one of us!

I’m back. Working on lunch (N.O.L) and trying not to be crabby and tired.

I’m not a work. I’m not motivated to do anything, but that’s OK, I cleaned last week.

gt, today is a different week from last day off, but it’s still 2 days off in the same month. Go me!

Tyger, next time I have to move, I’m burning anything that won’t fit in the station wagon.

Chocolate cake is baked - house smells yum. Chicken is in the oven. In a little while, I’ll smash some N.O.T. and dig out some sort of veggies. We’re doing an early dinner because SIL has to leave for work at 4.

Second load is in the washer - it should be done any time now. I suppose I should start knitting again…

Good morning everybody–nothing much going on here aside from Pratchett being a noisy arsehole who really wants to be outside. I obliged him because it’s raining out and he can just stay out there until he’s good and moist for all of me. He had such a hot pepper up his butt this morning that he ran up and batted Bear’s face like a speedbag, apparently in pique that the dog gets to go out when he doesn’t. Opinionated bastard cat…

My Biggest Loser competition starts tomorrow so I guess I need to go get a scale today–I dislike using weight as a marker for fitness but there’s really no other way to do it, reasonably speaking, with a group. I’ve pretty much pared myself down to one meal a day already so I just need to bump my activity level up to 1/2 to one hour a day of something aerobic and add some crunches and a little weight training in and I’ll be all set. I’m looking for a mini-stepper machine for the living room since there is zero room in this house for large exercise equipment. I’m rather looking forward to trimming down some since I’ve been getting lazy the past year or two. I was down to a size 6 (30 inch waist in jeans) and it’s been creeping up on me–I’m up to a 36" waist and that’s just not acceptable. That’s the largest size I’ll buy and if they get too tight I just have to suck it up and lose the flab or go nekkid. I think I have a really good shot at winning this thing, too, since the other participants are really big girls who’ve been that way for years and years, whereas I’m a generally fit person who’s gotten lazy. I’ve been skinny a lot more than I’ve been fat and I know how to take it off–it’s an advantage.

No crabby, Pie! Or no crabby pie–mmm, crab pie… :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah, kai, what mousie said, squared!

Good news about the unemployment, Rebo, it’s really good to take a little time off between jobs if it’s feasible–take care of some projects and be judicious about deciding on a next job rather than scrambling frantically to get anything that comes along. A little downtime/me time is a positive thing. Tell him to grow a nice lazy-man beard!

Good luck on the weekend shift, swampie, in my experience you get a higher percentage of pissy entitled twits on weekends but otherwise call centers are at their best on weekends. More casual, less hassle, no management around to watch out for. I thought you were doing QA, though–is that not correct? It’s kind of odd for QA people to work the weekends…

Darn it, now I want a boat too! Not so much a sailboat, though, I want a small powerboat suitable for exploring the rivers. I miss having a boat, we always had one when I was growing up and that was the first vehicle I learned to drive.

Oh look, Bear wants to play fetch–what a surprise!

I’m at work. Aside from catching an error from one of our regular travel agents, which got fixed fine but had her being very apologetic (it wasn’t me! Yay!), nothing much is happening here. Weekends are usually pretty slow in here. It does give me lots of time to work on my embroidery projects.

Cute little boat, FCM. And Bernie’s deaf now? Awww, poor thing. virtually scritches Bernie

I’m not planning to move for several years if I can help it, unless I find that rich guy who can afford to hire movers. I’ve moved a lot in the past few years and am sick to death of it.

mmmmmmmmmmmmm the chicken was yum, as were all of the sides. And the cake. Gooooood dinner, if early. I’ll be boiling the carcass for soup and chopping up the leftovers (one breast and 1 thigh) for chicken sallit. That’ll be a lot of meals from one chicken.

**snowbunny **- I started noticing that Bernie didn’t react to squirrels running thru her yard. She also wouldn’t come when I called, but I assumed she was just ignoring me. Then one day when I came home, she was sitting by the recliner, looking toward the front window. She didn’t hear me open the door and come in. I called her, and she still didn’t react. But when I walked across the floor, she turned and greeted me as usual. Since then, I’ve tried calling her and talking to her - she just doesn’t hear. So both doggies are deaf. So much from protecting us from things that go bump in the night…

I’m about halfway thru with my first helmet liner. **FCD **wants me to make him one, too. The cold is really hard on him since his surgeries. Poor baby.

And thus ends my weekend. The laundry is done, the dishes are done, dinner is done, critters are fed… Looking forward to a long weekend ahead. Just gotta get thru the intervening 5 days.

Day off is about over. I went to the County animal shelter and the SPCA. No Nelly, nobody who really stood out for me. I did tequila-lime burritos for dinner.

FCM, bummer about Bernie.

I never really though of Bernie as the sort of pup who would protect me from things that go bump in the night anyway. She seemed likelier to lick them to death than anything else.

My Grandpa went to the ER Friday night because of a pounding heart and weakness in his legs. He was in V-tach. (Part of his heart was beating much faster than the other part, as I understand it.) Now, my Grandpa is in his 70’s and has a history of heart problems–he’s had one triple bypass already. My Mom and Aunts said that he seems fine–he’s laughing, talking and joking around, which is typical Grandpa.

He’s scheduled for an angiogram tomorrow morning, but it doesn’t look good. At this point, the doctors think that he has blockages in/near/around his heart, so either in the same place as the old bypass or new ones. They do have a brilliant plan for the angiogram though. He’s at Hospital A which is where they’re planning on doing the angiogram. If things become “life or death” during the test (which was relayed to me as a very real possibility), they plan on taking him in the middle of the test to hospital B, which is right down the street. Everyone seems to think this is a fine plan, except for me. 'Cause, you know, I think that if Hospital B is more equipped to deal with the possible complications of this, then let’s do the whole thing at Hospital B, or better yet, an even better hospital in Chicago. But, that’s just me I guess, my family isn’t listening to it. Anyway, thoughts and prayers are much appreciated.

Actually, snowbunny, she’s much more devious. She merely lies on the floor in the dark being black. An intruder doesn’t stand a chance!

**doggio **- I was reading a couple of rescue sites this weekend. I saw a couple of kittehs I wanted, but *someone *in this house won’t let me get another cat. Hope you have luck soon.

No more knitting. I’m tired. I’m thinking I may head into bed early and crash. Maybe.

Stoopit weekend, over so soon.

That makes more sense, I agree. And that’s why they’re not doing it. It’s a federal law that no risky medical procedure shall follow the laws of logic.

FCM, actually there are some nifty senior beagles in MD/Northern Virginia. Could you slap a book of stamps on one and mail it to me?

Sending healing thoughts and prayers to your Grandpa, mousie that the procedure will go well.

Oh FCM, I am so with you! Where did the weekend go? And how will I survive a 5 day week now?! Ah well, at least it’s a 4 day weekend coming up, then a -3- day week. Metro DC area federal workers are off on Inauguration day - can you imagine them trying to get to work through all that stuff?!

At any rate, many hugs and good thoughts to all who need them. And hoping that Haze comes back to tell us a bit about who she spent her lazy Sunday with … in bed. Ok, maybe that’s being a bit too intrusive, but … my money’s on IrishCo-Worker!!

Eagerly awaiting the new MMP.

Printed out my bank activity from the last 3 months, which I need to do my taxes, and the info from my first three terms’ taxes. Must do taxes this afternoon. I have to use the laptop, as it’s the computer that’s got the electronic ID. I’s a good little taxpayer, I is. Can I haz tax return now?

Off to see if I can find some motivation to work.
