Holiday traffic in San Antonio?

So, I have found myself commited by my word to be in the quiet town of Uvalde for Thanksgiving. Thanks to the policy my university has of not giving the Wednesday immediately preceeding Thanksgiving as a day off, I will likely find myself leaving Wednesday afternoon if my professors don’t give me the day off.

The main part of the drive that I am concerned about is driving through San Antonio, likely in the evening of Thanksgiving Eve. I’m wondering if I should expect the traffic here to be particularly bad, and if so, what would be the quickest, easiest way to get from I-10 east of San Antonio to US-90 west of SA?

If you’re expecting to drive through here between 4:30 and 6:30pm you’ll hit some major traffic. You might hit Loop1604 from I-10 and take it around to 90. It’s a long way around and time-wise might be the same as driving through town but at least you’re moving.

Expect serious traffic unless you’re traveling in the wee hours on the main roads, holiday or not. The good news is, unless you’re on local streets, the traffic WILL move, usually, so it’s not like a parking lot. But do allow extra time.

Boy, you’re a two-time winner here.

I’ve moved this to IMHO, as you’re looking for imformed opinions. I know, I know. There is a correct answer to your question. But you’ve already gotten some great GQ answers.
Now you can get more from IMHO.
