Hollywood Scandal

Yes, she’s surely among those least likely to be accused of sexual harassment.

But she’s definitely catching some flak as one of the very few who were close to Weinstein but claim they knew nothing about his rotten behavior (quite widely characterized as an “open secret”).

Here’s a relevant Vox article: Meryl Streep believes the media didn’t know about Harvey Weinstein. She’s wrong.

I would say most non-star working character actors will fall into this category unless it is well hidden and way off set. If you don’t control the money or your star power isn’t bringing in money, on set shenanigans will not go over well. Someone like Jim Beaver has had a long and very active career because he’s a good actor and a total pro on set. I’ll add his name because he seems like a very good and honorable man. And he posted here once.

And of course for jumping up and giving a convicted child rapist a standing ovation. But it happened before 2017 so it doesn’t count.

Dustin Hoffman.

Psych!

I LOL’d

But points to him not being the knee-jerk answer to who is a nice upstanding guy. Sorry, I do see the OP is more specific than that.

I would be genuinely surprised if Tom Hanks turned out to be a predator. That is all the Op asked. He might have cheated on his first wife and that sucks but since then he has been a very stand up guy.

When you especially consider the stories of all the cheating that happened in Hollywood from the earliest days to today, hard to think twice about it. A whole other thread would be great actors and actresses that did not cheat. That list is not large. Maybe Jimmy Stewart is one.

To play devil’s advocate, I’ll speculate that Streep is more likely to have been out of the loop on those rumors. Men might have talked to other men about what Weinstein was doing while avoiding the subject around women.

But wouldn’t women who were subjected to him talk with other women about it? (I’m a guy, so I don’t know what women do in those situations. Honestly asking)

Errol Flynn. (OK, I’m kidding!)

Duvall, Ricky Schroeder (ms?). Kevin Cosner.

… “Weird Al” Yankovic.

That would shock me, but I guess I don’t consider his an actor.

Jim Parsons

…you seem to have forgotten his roles as “Clothing Store Customer” in the movie that nobody saw “Nothing Sacred” and his dramatic acting chops getting a door slammed in his face in The Naked Gun 2½: The Smell of Fear starring as “Police Station Thug.” (Although I think you can count the leading role in UHF as a genuine acting gig, which gets me off the hook. )

Roddy Mcdowall

I dont hear much bad about Tom selleck.

Audrey Hepburn
(Does Mister Rogers really count as “Hollywood”? Even his show was filmed here in Pittsburgh at the local public television studio.)

William Shatner. Oh, no, nm! I’ll take that back!

Bob Crane always seemed so nice and decent on Hogan’s Heroes.

More seriously, Paul Newman. I’m not much of a follower of celebrities, but I’ve heard a couple good things about him, and no bad ones. He was married to Joanne Woodward (his second wife, I didn’t know that) for fifty years.

**Michael Palin.

Jeff Bridges.**

At any time in their lives.
