Anyone here watch “Holmes on Homes”?
For those of you who don’t know the show, it airs on HGTV Canada (not sure if it is on the US version).
The gist of the show is Mike Holmes owns a contracting company in the greater Toronto area. He goes around and fixes renovation projects that home owners have gotten screwed over by their contractor on.
Which leads me to my question, does anybod know if the home owners pay Mike Holmes anything, or does the show cover all the costs?
I ask this because I saw one couple who were taken for $140,000. I think they had a kitchen and a bathroom redone. Mike basically had to come in and rip everything out and wasn’t able to salvage anything. He then redid the job usong insane materials (large 16x16 slate tiles, marble counter tops, in-floor heating, etc.). I just can’t see these home owners who were just fleeced for 14 stacks of high society could afford to drop another easy $100k back into the place.
And then on the other hand, I can’t see a Canadian HGTV production dropping ~$100k per episode either.
So does anybody know how the financials work on Holmes on Homes?
Thanks
