I was just watching tv when I saw the we like the moon guys singing “We like Quiznos”.
I now forgive Quiznos for the wolf suckling commercial.

I was thinking about starting a thread asking, “What in the hell?”
I’m sitting here laughing out loud at the Moon Song, just like I laugh out loud every time I see one of those new commercials. They’re freaking hilarious. Or maybe I’m just easily amused.
I guess I know what I’m having for lunch tomorrow.
Hooray for Quiznos! When they did that comercial featuring the guy suckling off the wolf I thought “Hey, finally somebody came up with a commercial that made me associate grossed-out-ness about their product than Carl’s Jr’s drippy bloody ketchup commercials”.
Now they have two little mutant singing testicles! Brilliant!! I’m guessing the next advertising campaign will feature either graphic footage of a circumcision or a guest spot featuring Goatse.cx, then the whole chain will collapse.
The Arby’s oven mitt is now dethroned as the worst fast-food advertising mascot. Those furry things are just nasty.
We went through a “Rather Good” phase last year in my dorm. He used to have a really funny one with kittens in a viking ship singing along with “Immigrant Song” by Led Zeppelin, but it was taken down for some reason. My favorites are the “Tales of the Blode” and “A Frightened Boy”…Let’s have a techno party!
There’s a site mirroring the Immigrant Song viking kittens. I saw it not two days ago. If I can dig it up from my history, I’ll post the URL, but try a google search.
I saw that commercial last night, and damned near laughed my ass off. Then I came to see the “Moon Song” and again, my husband thinks I’m mental.
You have got to be kidding me.
The Viking Kittens doing “Immigrant Song” can still be found on the web if you google for it. I suspect rathergood got some legal hassles over it and took it down, but there are still several mirror sites up. The Viking Kittens doing “Gay Bar” cracks me up everytime I watch it, but nearly everyone I show it to just stares and gets uncomfortable.
Just to be clear, “you have got to be kidding me” is dircted at the concept of rathergood advertising for Quizno’s.
Of course you can see the ads at the Quiznos site.
I was really happy to see this commercial, because it’s always nice to see someone who’s done something fun go from being a virtual nobody to getting some big credit (going from word to mouth internet site to professional commercials is a pretty big deal).
The only issue I have is…WHY’D THEY HAVE TO USE THOSE TEETH??? The very site of them makes me cringe with revulsion…not really the emotion you want going threw your target’s mind when they’re thinking of food.
Still, it’s a fun commercial.
I just can’t think who decided that “vaguely revolting” was a good concept for commercials for a restaurant chain. I agree with El Elvis Rojo… it wouldn’t bug me except for the teeth. The teeth revolt me.
Thank god for the SDMB, because I also had a “what the **** was that?” reaction.
OK, so now I get it – they’re going for hip & trendy, despite the fact that it’s lost on and/or revolting to 99% of their audience. Good call, Quiznos.
(And if you were going to use internet animation in your commercial, you should have gone with Strongbad. At least he’s funny.)
Definitely the funniest commercial I’ve seen in a long time. The teeth don’t bother me at all!
VH1 used one of the RatherGood.com singing kittens in a promo ad a while back. I think it was the kitten with the teeth from the British pub band version of “Independent Women,” singing along with Snoop Dogg in the VH1 promo.
I laughed my posterior into veritable detatchment over this commercial, and like El Elvis, I celebrated that someone made the move from a personal website into the mainstream.
Now if we can just get Weebl and Bob to do spots for the American Egg Council.
Where have the kitties gone? I liked that so much… sigh
ooops…
I found the kitties (next time, scroll up Spider… sheesh!). Sorry.
I think the commercial will still appeal to the same people who would have liked the flash animation, even if they haven’t actually seen it. So the Conan O’Brien crowd, and people who watch what ever other stuff the hip crowd likes, will still like these bizarre TV spots even if they don’t recognize the “characters”.
I think it’s the worst commercial I’ve ever seen. I prefer the suckling wolves. This one in fact puts me off Quizno’s every time I see it.
And I liked the one with the cats.
