I mean, I knew she would but it was still the scariest thing I have ever done. That moment when you’re on your knee looking up, waiting for a response…I’ve been to Iraq twice, I’ve almost died more than I’d like to think about…I’d rather deploy anytime then have to propose again.
Congratulations!
Congratulations! how long have you been together? how/where did you pop the question?
We haven’t been together that long, we moved pretty fast. We started dating in May and in September she moved to California with me so I can do the whole poor student thing.
I had been planning this for a while: she’s really into music so I bought her a new Ipod and recorded myself asking the question and while she was at worked I called her and said, “I have a surprise for you.”
I showed up at her work and had her close her eyes. I put the earbuds in and had her open her eyes. She was all happy over the new Ipod, and then I pressed play. She starts smiling then about 15 seconds into it she just looks at me weird. I knew where she was in the spiel, so my heart felt like it was going to rip out of my chest. Then I got down on my knee and pulled out the ring. It’s a 1/5 karat, princess cut white gold solitaire. It isn’t much, but I’m a poor student.
What was funny was she just stood there looking at me smiling for like, thirty seconds. I said, “Well…?” Then she starts nodding her head being all happy and girly.
NEVER want to go through that again!
Awww, cute!
Congratulations.
Congrats!
Just think of it as another kind of deployment.
This ones a lot more dangerous.
The boobytraps are certainly better hidden.
You stud! Congrats! Way to go!
Fantastic news! Congratulations!

Congratulations Fella!
Congrats! I have good news for you. The easy part is now over.
Woohoo! Congratulations. Wishing you both a lifetime of joy and happiness together.
Yay! Congratulations!
Woot! Congrats!
What a beautiful and creative thing you did. No wonder she said yes! Congrats!
Congratulations! That’s wonderful! BTW, Princess Cut is my all-time favorite.
Sometimes I regret that my own engagement story isn’t interesting at all. But I love to hear ones like these!
Congrats, that is a great story, and is a wonderful start. Don’t ever stop thinking of how you can do the small things for her, and you will be just fine.
