My hair was last cut around the beginning of December. I usually only need a cut every three months, since I get it cut short and then go in for another cut before it becomes too unruly.
I’m now approaching twice my usual cycle time, and I don’t like it! I’m all for “letting my freak flag fly” but not as the summer approaches. I’m doing the crazy Einstein thing now.
Hard to find these days–check your link; lots of the items won’t ship for weeks, particularly the ones with blade guards. I ordered a set a few weeks ago and it just now shipped.
I finally convinced my wife to give me a haircut. I was planning on growing a long beard, but last week I decided I just didn’t like the long beard look – I couldn’t tame the sides well and my sideburns were sticking out like a grill brush. Trimming them down made me look like I had an Osama bin Laden beard, so I decided to trim the whole thing with a #5 guard. I took about 3" off, which sucked. I really wanted a (shapely) long beard.
Trouble was, after trimming my beard my badly thinning hair was now dorkishly long. So after much pleading my wife cut it this morning. A #4 on the sides and finger-height on the top. Doesn’t look too bad.
But I might take running coach’s advice and just do it myself next time. Word is we won’t be back to work until July at the earliest, so I’ll have some time to play around with it without worrying about becoming a social pariah.
I knew there was a reason to avoid beauty salons. I was prepping for just this sorta thing.
I’m the only one here who is NOT complaining about needed a hair cut. I have hair issues, don’t get me wrong. But needing it cut ain’t one of them.
I sort of lucked out- I shaved my hair to support a friend starting chemo in Jan 2018, in April got dx with stage 3 cancer, and my hair grew glacially slow [an inch in about a year] Now my hair is back to growing normally [just as thick, a little bit greyer, and just as wavy] and is now all about 6 inches long [not blunt cut at all, sort of thins out near the ends]
I am planning on growing it another 2 years then getting the whole shebang blunt cut to just about bra strap length. Long enough to braid well and coil up.
My hair was a brilliant, vibrant purple. It is now light blue, with violet streaks. It’s not horrible, but I’d love to get it re-colored. It maybe time to try it myself. Or not. It’s not like I leave the house.
I gave myself a haircut with my beard trimmer this weekend. It didn’t turn out too bad, except trying to do it in a mirror with everything backwards took some practice.
You’re not the only one not complaining. I get my trimmed about once a year, or so. I can trim the split ends off myself, and I have dedicated hair scissors (not for that purpose, but to cut my bangs, should I feel the need to). So haircut wise I’m fine.
Boy do I need a pedicure though. Note, I consider this basic foot care. I don’t really care about the polish, I can do that. I’m in it for the sanding and the foot massage. Technically I can do that, too, but it’s not the same.
My wife has been cutting my hair (and trimming my beard) for a couple of decades now, so no change for me. I sometimes use my electric trimmer if my moustache gets unruly between trims.
In our case, it’s our cat who needs a haircut. We normally have his coat cut short for the summer, as otherwise it’s hard to keep it from matting, but of course there’s no place to take him for clipping at present.
I shaved my head completely bald about 3 weeks ago. I had wanted to try this for a while but never had the guts to. I must say I don’t really care for it that short but I kind of like it now at a little more than a half inch long.
Heh, I looked at the picture…that’s my beard right after a trim. It was saw worse. Back about 15 years ago for a while I let it reach my belt, ZZ-Top style. That was weird.
Next week (barring another resked) my husband is having surgery in Baltimore, so I’ll be staying with my mom while he’s in the hospital. As it happens, my mom is pretty good at cutting hair, so I’ll get her to get mine under control for me. Not a huge deal that it’s shaggy, but I prefer a shorter cut.
Spousal unit, on the other hand, is in need of something, and he hasn’t decided what he wants yet. Last time he had surgery, I gave him a #2 all-over cut, but he’s had that grown out for a while and I’m not as confident of my ability to trim it well. I suggested he grow a pony tail.
