Holy Shit, COD4 Multiplayer is HARD!

Ick. I like Overkill, but Overkill and not, say UAV Jammer? Pleh.

I just popped back in to say that after reading all the talk about COD4, I got home and I was practically salivating at the prospect of jumping onto a Killhouse server and putting many little holes in some shit.

Then I remembered - I reformatted my hard drive a while ago when I got rid of a dual-boot setup. So I’m now waiting for the looongest instal routine this side of World of Warcraft to finish, so’s I can get to poppin;.:smack:

And Least Original - sure, UAV Jammer keeps you from being seen on radar. But with two badass guns (and with Last Stand giving me the 9mm hat trick) I kinda WANT to be seen, you know what I’m sayin’?

Yeah, this thread got me to start playing COD4 again.

I figured out how to get a server running. Maybe we should try to get an SDMB game going? Maybe tomorrow afternoon?

If we can get 6 people together we can have a fun game on smaller maps. I actually find 3 on 3 or 4 on 4 HQ games, when I’m on ventrilo and coordinating with my team, to be the most fun I have playing COD4.

You’re doing it wrong. Stopping Power and UAV JAmmer is an acceptable answer.

If you want another weapon, kill someone and take theirs. Don’t take Overkill. The last couple sentences read like a PSA.

To anyone who’d be interested in getting a PC cod4 SDMB game going, I made a thread proposing we do exactly that here.

I proposed tomorrow (saturday) afternoon at 6pm eastern for our first game, although if another time period works better for everyone we can always change it.

I’ll admit it - I’m a gun snob. I don’t want to pick up some Skorpion with a lame red dot sight when I could be spraying the map with ACOG-scoped-P90 goodness. Ok, that came out wrong.

Basically, my guns are my crutch - I’ve gotten really good at scoping with the P90 and RPD, and it just won’t cut it for me to have to pick up the first gun I come across. Does this mean I’m limiting myself as a player - yep. But I’m not a real super-serious gamer - I’m happy just to blow shit up, and I’m fine with being in the middle of the leaderboard.

That’s why I don’t usually play co-op modes, since I’m not too serious, I don’t want to drag a whole team down with me. Now if I did play a lot of co-op modes, UAV Jammer would make a ton of sense. But I’m an antisocial grouch who gets his jollies where he can. :stuck_out_tongue:

UAV jammer is very useful I find in S&D/HQ and even team deathmatch games, for the simple reason that you can outflank and pop up where noone expects you. If you seperate yourself from the team it also makes you far less likely to be killed by an airstrike. You need a fairly distinct play style to make the most of it, though. For deathmatch, don’t bother.

It’s fun, but it took me a while to accept humility and not try to get too competitive. If I’m really on a roll, I can eke out a 1:1 kill:death ratio. It really is merciless, since the most experienced players also will have been regarded with better perks than you have.

See, but the Skorpion (which is hella accurate) is an upgrade over any pistol. I’m an optimist, sir.

And I’ll risk dragging the thread elsewhere, you always play with people in your party that you know. That way, you know if your folks are competitive or not.

OK so you are new to the game i have been playing for two mouths now and before that was 18 mouths ago yes they are good but not that good.
E mail me, as soon im going to start a sever for team death match and need people to be admin for me im a lot older than you but don’t let the teens think they are that good.
