By going back to the old style! You get the pixel dimensions, file size, and most importantly, they ditched that annoying mouse-over component that made the thumbnail enlarge. I can easily click with the scroll wheel to open multiple pictures again! Hooray.
It looks the same to me as always. Never had a problem with the current implementation.
I’m getting the same, crappy version. Honestly, my biggest beef with the newer version of GIS is that it isn’t easy to search by image size. That should always be right there, easy to toggle, damnit.
I noticed that they brought back their reverse image search, too. Tineye was no substitute.
Here’s what I’m seeing, and the size toggle is back.
Do they still have that stupid block on porn though?
This is what I get, in Firefox 18.0.1 on Windows XP. Same thing on Vista. Cleared the cache and cookies, same thing.
Oh!, so they have finally come to their senses!
I’ve been using an addon on Firefox to get the old search style since they “improved” it a couple years ago. It bugged me to no end to have to hover over every.single.blipping.thumbnail to check the size and website hosting the image.
Now they only have revert back to the top bar instead of the one on the right side after you click on a thumbnail. Seriously, who would consider the current implementation, that completely wrecks a web page, a good idea? The top, unobtrusive frame was much better.

Huh? None of that was ever missing for me. What’s new is that they no longer take you to the page you were on, instead just enlarging the image in the results when you click on it.
And I’ve been using the reverse image search a lot, so I know for sure that wasn’t missing. It’s the easiest way to check for better sources for bad Wikipedia images. (Just because I don’t support them financially doesn’t mean I won’t contribute my time.)
I liked the other version, and I like this new version. But they hide all the handy filters behind at least two awkward clicks, and that’s annoying.
Yeah, still getting Turnip’s version here, too. Chrome and Firefox, Windows 7.
Google search seems to be broken, again. My searches show the image sizes, but I have no option to turn it off. On my mobile device I have an option drop down menu to show image sizes. On my desktop I don’t have that option. This is the same whether I log into or out of my Google account. I’m trying to search for a really small image and the image sizes are blocking the icons that I’m looking at. Does anyone have any input into how I can force my browser to show the image size drop-down options?
A friend told me if you type in XXX after whatever it is you’re searching for, you’ll get the uncensored search.
You mean there are people who don’t use the Advanced Image Search? Why not?
I’m also getting the time posted on my search results, like (14hrs). There doesn’t seem to be an option to disable this.
