It looks like Google has made some changes, specifically to their image search feature. It used to be that when you viewed the results of your search, it listed some basic info below the thumbnail, like file name, location, and image size. Now it seems like they’ve made it “better,” by eliminating most of the info until you mouse over one of the thumbnails. Obviously the info is still being pulled, since the mouse-over shows it immediately, but apparently they needed to hide it so it takes a little longer to find what I need.
Hey, thanks Google, for making what was a great feature slightly less user-friendly!
You know, I noticed this too, and I was annoyed because it seemed so un-Google like of them. Reducing functionality in favor of form, as if the grey background and the text popping up on mouse-over was so compellingly cool.
It’s a very unfortuante step from Google’s typically very spartan yet functional design emphasis.
